Any news on Orukpe?

Am I the only one that finds it strange that there is absolutely no information, whatsoever, provided about Orukpe?

I would hope that someone from the coaching staff is at least communicating with him on a weekly basis. Like: How are you? We are really looking forward to your arrival. We've really got a great bunch of new recruits coming in next year to play with you. What are you doing to stay in shape? Playing any basketball, dodging bullets, whatever?

I remember last year several (before MT's departure) that several recruits commented that they chose WSU because the coaching staff showed continued interest in them. The same would hold too for a young man, far away, who is probably ten times more disappointed than we fans are that he has not been able to join his new team.

I'll bet my house that everything within the rules is being done to get him here... we also have a Nigerian on the coaching staff... you can bet he's in contact with him often.

This is about as hard as trying to get a game with KU. I do not think he will be here in time for this year, but I hope I am wrong. But next year with him and Stutz we should have some real good size. Something we haven't had in a long time, two post players.

This statement by Marshall should be sending up warning sign on whether he is likely to show up. Hope for the best, but the program needs to plan for the worst.

Ryan Bradley is averaging 8.8 pts and 4.8 boards through 4 games at Kansas Newman (provisional D2 team). David King is averaging 17.7 pts, 7.3 boards and a surprising 66.7% from 3 (6/9) in 6 games at Southwestern College (NAIA team). Bradley and King seem to have found better places to use their abilities.

With the chances of Orukpe getting here this season shrinking daily, I'm starting to look forward to next year's newcomers - especially the Fr class.

Don't any of you ever watch Discovery Channel or Animal Planet where they film people attempting to drive down "bad roads" in Africa? When "the roads are bad", you'd better have a 4WD Land Rover, a winch, a tank and 2 rescue vehicles to get from Point A to Point B. If a bridge is out or a "good" road has a washed out spot or otherwise impassable spot, the detour could be 100 miles of unpaved one-lane roads that resembele trails or motocross tracks more than they resemble a "road".

If you want to see some bad roads, take a gander at some of the mountain roads in South America. There are roads, which are barely wide enought to accommodate a single vehicle. There are no guard rails and the road bed is thousands of feet above the valley floor. In other words, if a vehicle slips off the road, it is straight down. Everytime I see some of those photos, my stomach churns.

I sorta had the notion that he did not get a good shake at WSU. After all, we were trying to guard the post with a 6-5 guy. I thought, what the hell, it could not hurt to try David at the 5.

The idea that Koch gives money to Wichita causes so he can put his name on things shows your ignorance. The name is meaningless to anything a consumer would buy. Things are named after the Kochs in this town because when you underwrite the lion's share of a project your family name goes on it. Charles Koch needs to see his name on buildings about as badly as you need to eat more paint chips. :shock:
