this thread started over 24 hrs ago. One would think there would already of been a statement from WSU.... Because if EO is not cleared why keep it quiet. I am sure they took all the proper channels with this kid. As for RC I will say a prayer and hope we see him in NOV
Well, um, actually a pretty nice little Saturday, we're going to go to Home Depot. Yeah, buy some wallpaper, maybe get some flooring, stuff like that. Maybe Bed, Bath, and Beyond, I don't know, I don't know if we'll have enough time.

      EO

Rumor I heard was that the issue with EO was whether or not he has 4 years of eligibility and that somehow the NCAA viewed that he had burned a year up.

Sounds like there is a lot of confusion surrounding this kid.

How would he have used up a year of eligibility?

Yes, the Shox can work around this and have plenty of young talent and a great coaching staff, but losing your leader even before the season starts really cuts into what we thought was a very strong and deep front court.
Yes, true. But you know--times like these are when it becomes necessary for others to step up and be leaders if Ramon isn't available. Remember from a couple of years ago, a leader doesn't have to be a 'star' player--just a hard working person who has the right attitude that the rest of the team respects.
And that's how I view Ramon.

Me too, but if he's not there, he's not there. Someone else will need to step up. Lets hope he WILL be there. Hopefully if he's not, someone will assume that role, or at least attempt to.

There's too much talent and potential here to let one or 2 players determine it's success--as important as Ramon and EO are.

Leaders arise on a team because of purpose and passion for the game. I think people are jumping the gun on Ramon. He will be back, they are just being real cautious with him. I can't help thinking back to when I was 18, and was in a highway accident, and crushed my left ankle badly. I had to have surgery and the doctor told me I would never run again.

I not only ran again, I ran an under 11 second 100 yard dash. 18-20 year old bodies have amazing recouping powers.

Ramon will be back, back with a purpose.

This sucks about EO though. Maybe why no info has been released is because they are trying alternate solutions to the problem, and want to find out the answers prior to releasing anything. I have it on good authority though, that EO is very intelligent, and grades or testing would not be a problem with him.

I have read of a case though, I believe a Nigerian for the Blue Demons, where it took 2 years for the NCAA Clearinghouse to clear him to play.

I still hold to my theory. Because his high school transcript did not make it out of Nigeria, he still has the problem of meeting his core curriculum classes. We are pretty certain he did well on the GED but the Clearhouse still requires the 12 core classes.

I'm doubtful of him taking the ACT or SAT yet. If he has, it's more doubtful of those scores being received. And even if they have, I see no way the Clearhouse has already given an answer. It takes more time than this. This takes me back to thinking the problem lies in the failure to show he has passed the core classes.

EO has got his GED and had 6 hrs of "A" in summer school. The problem is the Clearing House and they only see black and white, no grey area. They do not look at Individual cases. If they do not have his Nigrian coming out scores they just won't ok his application. There is one case out there where the you man has bee waiting for 3 yrs. EO can go to a JUCO and play one year (he is a qualifier) and the go to a D-1 School. One other thing, the Clearing House answer to no one. They just sit up there and play "God" with the young mens' lives. They are really tough on young men coming from Nigeria because it is such a corrupt country. :-x :-x :-x

How is he a qualifier? If he was, he would be a Shocker this year.

On the other hand, how wishy-washy would the Clearinghouse be if they took exceptions to their regulations and offered special access to certain players. It would be a very large mess.

As going through the Clearing House with two of my own, I can see the importance of their rules, and the need for consistency.

This situation has been confusing forever, but it's getting more that way.

Let me start with the LOI. The way I thought it worked was that the LOI is good until he enrolls. If he enrolls at a JuCo, the LOI disappears, but if he enrolls at a Prep, does the LOI stay or go?

Is it possible to take the core classes in one year at a Prep? It seems he probably has 2 out of the way already. Take 4 in the fall, 4 in the spring and 2 next summer and the core classes are done. There could be a problem with funding an entire year at Sunrise. That would make the JuCo route the only real option.

A year at Sunrise would leave WSU in a much better position than 2 years at a JuCo. I don't know what it would mean for EO.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

All you have to have to go to a JUCO is, a GED and SAT which I believes he has.

I think what Tropicalshox is inferring is I believe the rule is if your non-qualifier for Div I then if the player goes to a Juco he has to get his associates degree before going back to DIV I (which means a mininum of 2 years).

Ok, that confirms what I've heard, that we must have his scores. I'm interested in hearing from Shocker to see why he said we don't need them...
