A year at Sunrise wouldn't have surprised me. The English that's spoken and "taught" in Nigeria is probably quite different from ours. A year at Sunrise wouldn't have been any big deal. A year to adjust and put the 2 7' players in different classes. there are some positives in that.

Juco is an entirely different matter. It limits his playing time at WSU to 2 years max. If he's half what we think he could be in 2 years, he's going to have incredible recruiting pressure, regardless of his level of commitment to WSU.

This is how we run into stories of players out of Nigeria who are 26 when they graduate and never sniff the doors of the school that brought them to this country.

Oh, blue and red and mythical creature for a mascot, for those of you not up on the colors of all the schools in the state. Here's a link.

      Bad karma.

This would have to happen, wouldn't it?

Please don't tell me the 90's are back? :( :-x

NO. Times are far from that rough.

Let's keep this in perspective: at the very worst, it's ONLY ONE PLAYER. Granted, a good prospect and someone who could contribute for us and be very very helpful. But that still doesn't take away from all of those other good to great recruits we have coming in! Let's not sell those guys short. I hope they don't read this forum.

On the other side, remember we've heard nothing official. Anything could happen.

Whew! I thought you were referring to a red and blue team with another mythical bird.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Let's not get down just yet,we still have a talented 7 footer in the mix who will get every opportunity now to develop even faster, and he will suprise the naysayers. This team will still be good enough to get it done,I have the utmost confidence. Not getting EO this yr is a minor setback.

Precisely. EO was only one piece of the puzzle. We still have a TON of potential. Garrett is going to be great, along with Toure, David, etc. I think AJ is going to be a real factor that many have kind of let slip from their minds a bit because of his toe injury, but I think he will be quite effective. Oh, and don't forget that we now have MUCH more depth at the guard position.

Remember how Aaron E. played in the last game last season? Just think: that's only the beginning!

I think most of the negativity includes the thoughts of Ramon being out as well. EO definitely hurts and is disappointing. Ramon would be brutal.

Yes, the Shox can work around this and have plenty of young talent and a great coaching staff, but losing your leader even before the season starts really cuts into what we thought was a very strong and deep front court.

What is the latest re: Ramon?

Collapsing during a workout is not usual, obviously.

Unfortunately there has been no official update. Most rumors I've been hearing haven't been great and some have alluded to those on here. I've heard everything from he'll be fine and ready to play to he may not play at all. Until I hear something more positive I'm going to assume he won't be available. At least that way I can't be too disappointed if he's not ready for the start of the season. I'll have plenty of time to prepare myself for that.

Yes, true. But you know--times like these are when it becomes necessary for others to step up and be leaders if Ramon isn't available. Remember from a couple of years ago, a leader doesn't have to be a 'star' player--just a hard working person who has the right attitude that the rest of the team respects.
