I've used the term, it's not a bad term, keeping it in perspective of the meaning. But several months ago, I got slapped in the face with how overused it is by Kansas fans. In fact, I posted pictures of me attending the KC-Oakland football game back in December. In the pucture, you can see my buddy and his KU alum son, along with guys from Omaha, Chicago and Naples, Fl. We all met for the game. During the tailgate, we were talking college basketball, the guy's son who is the KU alum probably used the term blueblood 50 times. Suddenly, the whole conversation turned. The son of the guy from Naples had enough of the bullshit and just started laying into the KU fan about "What's a blueblood, who are you to tell me who bluebloods are, why are you obsessed with bluebloods?" On and on and on! The dude absolutely owned and shamed the Kansas fan. It was awkward because everything else was great. That is when I started looking a little closer at the term blueblood and how it's used by Kansas fans. It really is a vague term and nobody, I mean nobody hangs onto it like Kansas fans. Check the other boards. When you compare and contrast other "blueblood" message boards, the overuse of the term is uniquely a Kansas thing.
