Agree with everything but that AR is a diamond in the rough. He is straight up a brilliantly cut, sparkling diamond.

AR is the real deal, plays with the confidence of an upper classman. Put another 20 lbs of muscle and watch out.

I think a case can be made that Austin has been our most consistent players over the first 4 games of the season.

You can probably make an even stronger case that he is the biggest fan favorite on this team and there are a boatload of good choices for that honor.

To this point he certainly has been a bright and shiny gem.

Having Austin and Landry together for 4 years ala Fred and Ron is certainly something great to look forward to unless your another Valley team.

I would guess it has pretty much been picked over by now but I guess someone does find a diamond every now and then. Looks like 30 diamonds were found in October. Somebody found an 8.52 ct diamond as recently as 2015.

Perhaps if you go again you should invite 3G. He seems to have a knack for finding hidden gems.

The article in the eagle yesterday was so spot on it wasn't funny. I live in Little Rock
and people here can't believe it when I wear my Shocker gear and openly say I don't like
Arkansas. The fact that Arkansas offered Austin as a walk on with a scholarship offer
from WSU seems about right for these "SEC" biased homers and the fact that
Austin rejects everything Hog makes him my favorite Shocker.

I will be the first to admit I wasn't sure about Austin. I watched 5 of his games
last spring after he committed and you could see the talent, but the competition
was not great so I wasn't sure how it would translate, but I was wrong and am
so glad HCGM is the one doing the evaluating!!!

Looking forward to years of Austin and Landry dominating opponents and I hope
for Austin's sake that he gets a crack at the Hogs, something tells me they
might regret that egotistical effort they made!!!

It's not about his skills. It is about how heavily recruited he was or in his case, similar to Ron Baker, how much he wasn't recruited or how much they were overlooked.

You're missing the point of the metaphor. The "rough" is small school basketball with questionable competition that so many people ignore. Austin is all diamond.
