          • Mast has....I can't believe I'm typing this....NEBRASKA as a team to consider.....

            10-14

            Good wins? Yes

            Horrendous losses? Oh, yes.

            And again....10-14.

If this is the type of team that is actually in consideration, then the Shockers are a lock. Goes to show how weak the field is this year.

                • Lol - good stuff fella's. My point of course is certain "sports writers" talking about how certain teams terrible overall record and getting talked about as at-larges. Clemson? Nebraska? Really?

Actually, he has them as his 4th team out. That makes them approx. #50 on his list.

For reference, Vandy has a KenPom of 49, RPI of 48. Challenged themselves in the non-con. Zero bad losses. 7-12 vs the top 100.

Putting Vandy in the discussion, but out for now, is not crazy at all.

Now, including Nebraska in the discussion? Yes, that is bonkers.

                    • It's absolutely astounding how a team can lose 12 times by February 8th and be considered for an at-large bid.

                      • I'm still trying to figure out how ISUR has such a low RPI given their non con losses and fairly unimpressive schedule

                        Help?

Who you lose to doesn't matter with RPI. Your winning percentage, opponents' winning percentage and opponents' opponents winning percentage are the only pieces of the formula. And ISUr non-con SoS is 85 vs 208 for us.

                          • Common sense tells us that any team that does not finish in the top half of it's conference, should not get in. Sadly, these are not the rules we play by.

Absolutely! At least finish above .500.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

That is your opinion, which is fine, but it is not as simple as "common sense".

It's like saying "common sense tells us Kevin Ollie is a better coach than Gregg Marshall because he has a more prestigious job and has actually won a national championship, unlike Gregg". Too much nuance gets left out of those statements.
