I would really like to see a case study on how good the B12 defenses are. The Burds have an elite defense. I'd love to find out it's better than the average B12 defense. There are few things I like more than a KU loss. A KU loss where they only put up 50-60 points against an MVC team would be glorious. I'd rather it be ILL State than us because they won't respect them going in because there is no fan rivalry taking place and because there is no recent loss to them or something. They won't be prepared for it and they will get beat 52-51 :)

Big 12 average adjD ranking is 42.

      WV 6
      Baylor 8
      Texas 25
      KU 27
      OU 34
      KSU 40
      ISU 44
      TCU 47
      Tech 68
      OSU 109

That's pretty stout based on KP.

IMO good work with your bracket; other than a few nit-picking comments, of course.
Only reason why is their resume isn't one of a 1 or 2 seed. Most of their Top 50 wins are against teams that were completely different when they played them, exception St. Mary's who isn't that great of a team IMO.
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

        • I'm really going to enjoy it when WSU wins the MVC tournament and Jerry Palm is only willing to move us to his last 4 in and puts us in the play in round.

Man, that BJ from the Oklahoma panhandle sure is angry. I mean, not that I blame him, that the little ol Missouri Valley school has done more and stole all the notoriety while his big badass BIG EAST school has been left in the shadows.
            Deuces Valley.
            ... No really, deuces.

            • Oklahoma panhandle is all you have to know about him.

              • I would assume it to be the Nebraska Panhandle. That area is decidedly more BFE, end of the Earth, middle-of-effing-nowhere than even the Oklahoma Panhandle, which is saying something.

KenPom ranks Gonzaga as the #1 team in the country, and it isn't close. Just like with WSU, I'm tired of the way everyone seems to ignore how much of a feat it is to go out and dominate mediocre teams night-in-night-out. When Gonzaga goes out and wins road games at Loyola Marymount or at Santa Clara by 30, it should be considered just as impressive as a home win over some NIT, top 75-ish team. The fact that it doesn't shows people's complete lack of understanding of what things are/aren't easy/hard to do.

On a completely separate note, Gonzaga beat Florida, Iowa State, and Arizona on neutral courts, swept St. Mary's, won at BYU and Tennessee. Their 29-1 has not been a cake walk.

I'm sorry, but I have little patience for anyone who tries to justify anything but a 1 seed for the Zags. A 3 seed? That's just insane.

                  • Gonzaga has won 7 "A rated" games according to KenPom. Those are games adjusted for location. Top 90 road, top 50 neutral, top 20 home. The Zags have 2 "B rated" wins too.

                    vs A, vs B
                    Kansas: 12-3, 4-0
                    Villanova: 9-3, 6-0
                    Gonzaga: 7-0, 2-0, 1 loss to other
                    UNC: 9-6, 4-0
                    Oregon: 5-3, 5-1
                    Louisville: 8-6, 4-0
                    Baylor: 11-5, 3-1

Forget KU and Villanova. At worst, Gonzaga should be the third #1 seed. AT WORST.

That's why it's so gratifying come tournament time to witness those teams beat P5 teams as easy, or easier, than they do some of the games against their conference brethren. Vis a vis the Shockers making the Chickens look like a Valley also-ran. Chuck, you always make well thought, translucent, hardwood insights. Cheers.

Could not agree with you more; IMO the Zags are clearly the #1 seed in this tournament. In ranked order of #1 seeds:

                            1A - Gonzaga
1B - Kansas (I pray the Shockers are the 8 or 9 seed in this Region.
                            1C - Villanova
                            1D - Louisville

A lot of these "pointy headed" pundits will never, ever, learn. It's in their DNA. They're in a stupor. They'll go out kicking and screaming, just like b. packer did. Or b. lootz... Cheerio, and Godspeed.
