I happen to think the league you are playing in counts because that is where most power 6 teams actually play road games. I only include power 6 because most other leagues you are toast with a .500 conference record. Finally the NCAA is for the national championship not as a reward for playing so so in a tough conference.

    • Vanderbilt is going to get a bid in no small part because they have owned Florida this season.

      • Random question. Does the committee give any consideration to who you played in last years tourney? Meaning, could Vandy find themselves once again in the unfortunate position of having us send them home in their first game?

        • It seems to me that whether a team gets to .500 (or whatever line-in-the-sand) that's drawn or not, some weight should be given to whether they achieved this record by competing with all teams in the conference or just beating up on the weaker teams in the conference. In other words, a team that splits its two games with every other team in the conference should be looked on more favorably than a team that finishes .500 in conference, but is 0-9 against the teams above them and 9-0 against the teams below them.

Bonus, it would allow some MVC teams to make the postseason more often than they currently do.
Wouldn't this more likely be named the MEAC or SWAC invitational?

I heard that they do their best to avoid matchups in the previous 1 maybe 2 years.

                • WSU(9) is now as close to 4 in kenPom as 11. And judging by the direction of this WV game, that gap is only going to get smaller.

That could certainly be done, if the selection committee chose its 36 at-large teams plus a list, in order, of teams that would be plugged in as auto-bids were filled by those already designated as tournament teams. Would certainly provide complete transparency.
They would have to have a buffer list of at large teams, or another way to put teams into the Tourney if a team that wins the auto-bid was already an auto qualifier.

Do you select the next team on the at large list? Or if the team that was the runner up wasn't an at large team, do you give it to them?

Good heavens -- who's that I see as the highest ranked team from Kansas in KenPom?

                            Along with rankings of:

                            Nolan - 3
                            Kenpom -9

Did anyone really think going into a "reloading" year that we would be sitting here the day before Selection Sunday with 30 wins and these kind of rankings? Not me.

I thought and posted the Shockers would have the 30 wins but did not think once the Shockers would have such rankings.

Wichita State has been playing better basketball in their most recent outings, as evidenced by the team's #27 ranking in momentum. Wichita State has also been one of the most erratic teams in college basketball this year (currently ranked sixth from the bottom overall in consistency), which makes the outcomes of their future games far more difficult to predict.
Not sure how we are inconsitent, other than we had the stretch in the from Thanksgiving to the Illinois State game. Since then, the only inconsistency is if we win by25 or 35 at home or 15 or 25 on the road.
