They finished 2nd in the MEAC last year and lost just 1 of their top 5. So, hopefully they can compete to win their league. That 203 RPI isn't terrible. The 4 years prior, yikes.

The inclusion within the MTE would be important since it would allow us to schedule 13 OOC games (like we did in 2013-14) rather than 12 if we just get the three games in the Bahamas as part of the tournament.

      • A very important thought just occurred to me:

Who is going to start the chant that will inform Dan Monson's squad that Long Beach is not a state?
        78-65

I'll be too busy calling them dirtbags. I'll nominate @LuskingforGuttin: though

That isn't bad for a 6-10th place MVC team either, anymore.

            • LBSU game

I am a Long Beach grad and current fan. I have heard on our board that we will be playing you this year. I know you lose your two best guards but I suspect that you guys will be as strong as ever. Someone mentioned that LB lost Faust and another role player, which is true. LB does return 8 of their top 10 players from last year. They have four red shirts who will all contribute. Many people here believe that we will be better this year. Maybe. We played several common opponents last year. We beat New Mexico State handily and beat Seton Hall. I believe we will give you guys a good game. Looking forward to the fall.

Losing Fred VanVleet and Ron Baker does leave a gaping hole to fill. I think the Shocks will definitely look different and while the Shocks have quite a few question marks we think they will be able to come up with adequate answers. The Shocks will not have any seniors on their roster next season and coupled with the loss to two oustanding senior leaders in Fred and Ron the question of leadership is one of the big holes that needs to be filled.

Coach Marshall does have some talent at his disposal and the consensus of opinion is that we will be pretty good again next year. It just may take a little while to meld all those pieces into a highly functioning unit. We have a couple of Juco transfers and a transfer from Texas A&M who sat out last year plus a highly regarded freshman who played 3 games last season before a broken foot ended his season. All will be counted on to be significant parts of the answers Coach Marshall will be looking for.

                • Any chance that's supposed to be South Dakota State instead of South Carolina State?

                  nm I see my mistake.

                    • 1972Shocker, thanks for the information. BTW, the other player we lost was AJ Spencer, who is from Wichita.

Pretty sure this was the post-game celebration...

P.S. To continue off subject; students won't support football at WSU...
Was at that game. It was sweet.

Was actually at a church event, but when we heard what was going on, rushed to see the end....

Hey, at least it is the same university! That's worth some credit!

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

I actually attended the game in question myself -- one of my few -- and I remember grumbling afterwards about Jim Wright having a man back to receive an OSU punt late in the game when about the only thing that could possibly have done in the Shocks was a fumbled return. But geez, if that's all it takes to get mentioned, at least put it in the baseball forum. WSU plays Okie State in that sport too and has a great history with them, far more so than in basketball. Plus, if any forum needs some positive content these days, that's the one.
