I thought SIU would finish dead last. Finishing 4th either says a lot about Barry or a lot about the bottom half.

I wonder how the MSU Admin and Fans feel ? The coach that they let go a few years ago wins COY and they are (apparently) stuck with one of the worst coaches in the MVC.

No one deserved the COY more than 3G. He's one of the elite coaches in the nation.

I would have been a lot more PO'd if anyone but Barry or 3G would have won.

Todd and the others who left 3G off their ballots should lose their jobs over this. They have no integrity.

For wharever faults Lusk has as an in game coach(something Hinson is just average at himself), Lusk can recruit circles around Hinson. If MSU and SIU were both to have new coaches next year, the new Bears coach would at least have something to work with while the new SIU coach would inherit a now Beane-less roster that has very little talent.

I don't think that's fair. SIU was not stacked with high character players when Barry came in and a house cleaning was in order. It takes time to turn around a program, especially when you have to deal with the team Barry was handed. Regarding scheduling, based on how they did last year there's no way to blame him for scheduling down this year. He gets a pass for this year, but if he schedules like that again next year then your point becomes more valid.

Hinson's season deserved consideration. HCGM deserved the award. Think of all the adversity this team went through with having FVV, LS, AG all out at the same time. The lost time meant we were behind the curve of integrating the squad. Nevertheless WSU won the conference by 4 games. FVV, RB and others had a lot to do with that but probably not as much as HCGM.

I'm not sure about this. However, Beane is a really good shooter. Next year could be a tough year for Barry maybe he'll be ae to parlay this award into a long term extension that will hand cuff their athletic dept. just like their last coach and they can't afford to move him out.

I'm going to agree with Peace as I am not that enamored with Barry. He had a bad team turn into a mediocre team. I am no more impressed with that than Wardle winning 3 games with freshmen.
