Mock had 9 and 16(!) in 36 minutes. Shaq and Anton combined for 25 and 10 in 39 minutes.

      • Why the heck did EW play? And what about Brown? Only one basket the whole night. Surely we can find some better talent that can contribute the tangibles for wins.

@shock:akahn this one is for you. :ranting2: :banghead:
ShockerNet is a rat infested cess pool.

If you get a ticket, show up to the rucking game. It is past time to oversell student tickets.
I use it to my advantage and move out from behind a pole over to those empty seats

          • Crazy people on the radio show complaining about the crowd. I don't get it the crowd sounded great the entire time from my TV.

And this John guy who called is a complete idiot. And Missouri does end in an A.

            • It's a win but shouldn't have been that close and I'll go straight to the seniors wit the exception of Anton. Quit trying to make spectacular plays, that's not our claim to fame. Keep it simple. This program is based on being solid and consistent. Don't make fouls against Wing completely away from the ball. Force them to make the tough shot rather than put them at the line.

Congratulations to Zach, Ron and Markis on good Ballentine defense. Good job Anton, Shaq and Bush as well.

Now, we're in a great position to go into Carbondale and make a statement. Let's play hard nosed Shocker basketball and suck all hope out of the rest of the MVC.

Ha. I remember those days :/

I'm glad it benefits someone because it just pisses me off. I'm sure there are people that would be there tonight had tickets been available. Students get tickets and don't use them. It is crap. They need to start giving out more tickets than seats and say only the first X number of students get in.

                • Glad we pulled out the win and I think EU played pretty well. Brown and Wing stepped up more than they did against Providence or Arkansas. However, I am a little concerned for us. Fred is having a hard time finishing lately. We aren't aggressive enough outside of Fred; that starts with Ron and Zach needing to drive and attack more. I would like to see us get Connor more open looks when he is in. You can tell he can stroke it.

                  • Not sure I've seen Ron air ball two 3's in a game before.

Fred looked good about half the time. He had a real rough stretch with about 6 minutes left where he had a turnover and a missed shot back to back on the offensive end and 2 made shots against him on the defensive end.

I love how Anton works his way into great low post position. Grady had several good finishes and a few were while Mock was guarding him.

Speaking of Mock, how does he not get called for his 5th on Fred's drive. Thankfully Mock missed a good many free throws otherwise...well...who knows

All in all it was an okay night. I'm not sure Evansville is a great team. They definitely didn't play great tonight but the Shocker D had a lot to do with it. A win is a win and I'm looking forward to the Shox playing with more consistency on offense and more cohesiveness all around as a team.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

I feel like I'm with you but not quite. Some of the spectacular plays were wide open attempts that need to happen. We left at least 6 points off blowing those wide open spectacular plays.

Two fouls out in the wing, especially Evan's with 1 second left on the shot clock were bullshit bail out fouls. But yeah, we do get some dumb ones some times - most teams do.

And lots of him. That should have been his 5th foul.

Ron Baker is drawing more defensive attention than a rock star from our foes. Yes, he could still score more than he does and our opponents don't want him to have the rock. RB is the king of team play. He rarely forces the game with all of this attention but rather just goes with the flow in the confines of team-team-team!!!!!!!

I agree with your first statement. McDuffie and a few others make the easy plays, we don't miss wide open lobs to Ron, etc. I agree, it is a much more comfortable win.

On your second statement, they were fouls, bailout or not. This has proven to be an issue for us. We already lost 1 game because our inability to play defense at times without fouls. You cant get out shot consistently at the free throw line.
