  • This is how we get at least our championship on national television and not up against the P5 tourneys. I'm not sure that there is much benefit to that, but I know for a while anyway, it was one of the main reasons given for having our tournament a week earlier.

    • While I too expect (and hope) UNI beats SIU, I won't be Shocked at all if UNI goes 1 and done and it is the Salukis that WSU faces on Saturday.

KenPom gives SIU a 1 in 3 chance.

      • Sounds like Beane could be somewhat questionable with a concussion.

If that is the case, I'd give them about 2% chance.

I hope he is able to play. Selflessly because it would suck for his career to end that way. Selfishly because I would like UNI to at least have to play the game. Depth is not a UNI strength.

I really hope we win it this year. Remove all doubt. And hey, if we are leaving for greener pastures this year it would be nice to leave with a sweep.
I usually stop by Thursday and watch whomever WSU will play the next day. I also hope for a 4 OT game to smoke their legs.

Since I sat through many Thursday games in the late 90's and MT and HCGM's first years, its nice to sit back and watch other teams work hard just to get to Friday.

              That is all.
Above all, make the right call.

              • We kind of like going to the Thursday games -- fun to watch with no dog in the fight. Some of our team usually come watch a bit, and it's fun to hear a big cheer from the Shocker fans that is completely unrelated to what's happening on the court.

                • Long shot I know, as I've already told a few of you that I wasn't going to be able to go this weekend, due to babysitter issues for my 8 year old daughter. My wife just found out and told me that said daughter does not have school on Friday, so could go with us. She does have a Y basketball game on Saturday, but wife thinks she'd be willing to skip it for a trip to the tourney. Anyway, she should know in about an hour and a half, so I'm probably asking a little prematurely, but it appears that I may be looking for 3 tickets. If you have or know of anyone that has extras, shoot me a pm and let me know what you would like to get for them. We wouldn't be able to make it up in time for the Thursday games, and don't care too much about Session 3 (that the Shocks aren't involved with), but would consider buying all session passes if that was the best way to go. Let me know. Thanks.

                    • Just landed up booking a flight to St Louis and a room downtown for this weekend as we got childcare issues addressed. Looking for 2 tickets for WSU games, not really interested in other sessions. Will consider an all session pass if it is best possible option. Please PM me if you have tickets available. We may try and pickup tickets outside the arena on Fri otherwise. Never tried but in two previous trips it seemed like there was always an abundance of tickets available.

                        Traditional Thursday evening dinner arrangements?

                        • Zia's is pretty damn good if I say so myself.

                          ... No really, deuces.

That might be a plus for the Saluki Dogs. I am not a fan of ball hog, fire ball Beane.

Zia's will be top of the list, but Lombardo's in the basement of the Drury Inn by Union Station impressed me last year. Every bit as good as the places on The Hill. Might score some cheap Thursday night tickets and dinner will be overpriced booze at the arena.

Mike Shannon's, just down the road from the Westin.
