Did they really "hold us" or did we do it to ourselves. We had lots of looks.. Just missed them.

Face it, if WSU has trouble with them after they played 16 hours earlier, no need to talk about at-large chances or anything farther.

UNI should take SIU and will be a challenge. However, if they can't put a middle of the Valley pack team away, whats the point in discussing higher aspirations?

      UE and ISUR?
Who knows, but ISU has some of dumbest BBIQ players on the continent and another 16 point beat down should be standard fare on the menu.

See everyone who makes the journey there and do so safely.

There may be others, but don't know of anyone who has made the STL trip more seasons in a row than Yours Truly. This will be #19 and hopefully #2 Championship.

      That is all.
We have lost to Illinois State two of the last four years in this stupid thing and did okay either in seeding and or performance so I am prepared to say there is little correlation as to how we do in the NCAA compared to Arch Madness. See 06,12,13,15.

All that being said, you are right. We should win this thing in statement fashion.

I actually like the Thursday games. It's nice to have a day to sit back and just watch ball without having to worry about the outcome of our game. And I remember watching the shockers on Thursday so it's another way to appreciate the success we've had since those days.

I really hope we win it this year. Remove all doubt. And hey, if we are leaving for greener pastures this year it would be nice to leave with a sweep.

The box score had no value for predicting the game winner.

Always leave town early Thursday morning, get to St. Louis by 3:00 to 4:00 (depending on number and duration of stops). Take 30 minutes to check in, unpack, and change clothes. Then on to dinner and still get to the first Thursday night game before tipoff. Have always enjoyed NOT having to worry about winning.

                    • Why does the league still play the tournament a week early? For big regional Fox coverage and cbssports Semi-Finals? Oh, and if you're lucky CBS might show most of the final?

Compressing the basketball calendar by an entire week is a huge mistake for that joke of a media package. I'm also convinced that in situations involving MVC at-large candidates, it hurts them to play themselves onto the national narrative and then sit idle for a week only able to be passed.

                      • Marshall has said he likes the extra week of rest but he might just be wanting to make the best of a bad situation.

Because no one outside of the MVC gives a dog turd about the MVC?

If you're sure you are in, I can see it being great to take it easy for a week.

However, I would counter that it would be more beneficial to have that week spread out over the course of the season. The Valley plays an 18-game grind compared to many leagues' 16-game schedule, and the league does it in 1 less week. I would be a fan of either decompressing the league schedule, or starting the slate a week later in an effort to give teams more flexibility for non-conference scheduling.

This is exactly my point. If no one is going to watch, and you can't get even decent TV for the event, then why bother compressing the calendar to accommodate said apathetic fans and terrible media coverage? Perhaps 1 or 2 more good non-con games could end up scheduled across the league if another week of flexibility was added.

Agree 100% I will be totally useless at work this week. We are leaving Wednesday afternoon and coming as far as Wichita, then on to St. Louis on Thursday. We will either go out for a nice dinner Thursday night, or go over to Scottrade for the two garbage-fest games, hoping both of them go to quadruple overtime destroying the legs of the winners.
