  • Last observation,

We were setting ball screens for fred around 25 feet out. If you go back to the UNLV or even first half of UTAH Fred was getting his ball screens 35-40 feet away, which gave him time (and space) to break down the secondary defender. Setting ballscreens that close to the basket gives much less room to operate.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

    • Lopsided officiating leads to players playing out of sync, offensive turnovers, starters in foul trouble prematurely (causing bench players to eat up starter minutes), and scared defense. The officiating today was THAT lopsided. And it's not just the tidal wave of crappy calls that went against us, that doesn't count the no-calls that Seton Hall benefited from. We have played in a couple games that were as horribly officiated in the past three years, but none so _lopsided_, in recent memory. Maybe going back to UConn game in Hawaii. Maybe.

      • Probably the best place to put a screen is where the defender happens to be.

        • Bad loss. Lead the whole way, gotta finish. Yes the whistles hurt. Can't lose many more, or at least win in St Louis.

          • Utah winning helped

              We outrebounded them by 4.

Tennessee in 12-13 comes to mind.

                  • Looked like ShaQ was gonna finally get that elusive 20 early on. Oh well maybe one of these days. Definitely had that gut feeling the other day in the prediction thread that the officiating would be an issue. It certainly looked like Fred was getting hammered quite a bit. Guess the strips didn't care for the memo that Fred is an ALL-freaking-AMERICAN!!!

Very frustrating because the game was so winnable.

With that type of officiating, Seton Hall will go 16-2 in the BIG EAST.
                      Without it, maybe 7-9.
I don't believe you were at the game. Clown suit me please, with evidence.

                      • seton hall started getting into the passing lanes about halfway through the 1st half. give their defense some credit. they overplayed and got away with it. but now the shockers can focus on something in practice: quck, sharp passing. lazy passes won't cut it.

and.. it will be real nice when grady gets back up to game speed.

Well when you put it that way.....no argument here.

That pretty much covers it.....solid work.

Whitehead's issue was he was trying to compete with Baker 1 on 1, when Baker drained a shot Whitehead would go down to the other end and attempt to get one back and most of them were stupid shots.
The game was not 60 seconds old and I told Senora Rio that Whitehead was way too full of himself. The game was not one minute old and already he was playing "look at me" with the crowd.

I admire the Pirates because they did not fold up their tent. They could have. Your crowd was great.

I knew it was over when two events happened. First, the Shockers were fouling machines to begin the second half. Second, the Pirates began to attack the rim unmercifully at the beginning of the second half and the Shockers looked helpless.

It was a nice win for the Pirates. I hope you make the big dance.
