  • Just a public service announcement: there are medications available for severe paranoia. Some on here might need to look into that.

      • Fred deserved it, he didnt get it. WSU is still represented with Ron. It would have been great watching both of them play for USA, but having both of our leaders that should be teaching our most talented incoming class ever, playing 2nd rate international games instead of sharpening and honing that youth into instruments of Shock, is not in our best interests.

Chalk this up to pieces falling into place.

        • Don't know who had the final say on the roster slots. Could have been Turgeon, Brown, Boyle or Few! But, if you really want to win you pick FVV. Case closed. Must have been politics. Maybe one of those guys will get it at that level someday. BTW...Do any of these coaches have a championship?

          Happy for Ron!

My bitterness makes it difficult for me to accept this, but I think it's probably accurate. I think FVV deserved it, but it's probably better for ShockerNation for him to be in Wichita. And as for Team USA, Good luck to Ron and the rest of the team. As for FVV and Team USA, there's always the 2016 olympics. :)

My only hope is that Ron will get some time at PG and show them how it's done.
I was thinking about this today while mowing. I'm a firm believer that Fred is the best point guard in the country. I could see people making arguments for maybe two other guys although I would disagree with them. My next thought was, even though Ron's "natural position" is shooitng guard, with his BBIQ, ball handling, floor leadership, and ability to make those around him better, would Ron be a top 20 point guard? Maybe even top 10? Just random thoughts from the excessive heat I suppose.

                  • Having two players from the same school not named Duke or Kentucky puts Few, Boyle, Turgeon and other coaches at a wee-bit of a recruiting disadvantage. Probably wasn't going to happen from the get go.

                          • I bet size had a lot to do with it. Most of the other guards had a lot of length and could also play the 1 or 2 like Baker. Fred's size limits his versatility.

                            • I am not particularly surprised that only 1 Shocker player made it. I did not really know which one was more likely to make it. My guess is that Ron's ability to play very well both at the shooting guard and the point guard position may have given him an edge not to mention his size and physical strength.

I'll take another Final Four any day over having two Shockers on the Pan Am team and now Fred can turn his focus on making that happen and our younger guys will definitely benefit from having Fred around (probably more so than having Ron around).

If it was more or less pre-ordained that only Ron or Fred would make it, I think this outcome is better for the Shocks than vice-versa.

Proud of both Ron and Fred from representing Shocker Nation with such class and excellence.

Kind of confirms my thoughts that Fred was left out because he can only play one position.
