Seems likely based on the feedback they are probably going to get based on the big boards I've seen.

          Draft Express:
          Ron - #52
          Fred - #87

          CBS Sports:
          Ron - #42
          Fred - #94

          Bleacher Report (Just Top 50):
          Ron - Not listed
          Fred - Not listed

          NBA.com PG Rankings:
          Fred - Not listed

I don't have access to Chad Ford's Big Board, so if someone with an Insider account wants to look it up, I'd appreciate it.

I haven't seen anything to suggest Fred getting drafted at all and Ron is currently being projected as a late second rounder at best.

Neither are on Ford's Big Board. I would venture to say if either of them are picked (and it would likely only be Ron), it would be in the late second round. Otherwise, they would go in as a UFA and have to pray they make a roster.

Obviously, I don't blame them for testing the waters. There is no downside to doing so, because you are going to get good feedback on your game and future prospects without having to commit to the draft.

I think both Ron and Fred, in that order, have a chance to play in the NBA. That said, it won't be initially through the NBA draft, it'll be overseas or D-league before earning the opportunity that way. Because of that, I think both come back next year, and announce a week or two prior to the deadline.

                  Breaking News:

Fred VanVleet, Ron Baker and SHOXMVC "not listed" as projected draft picks for 2015 according to Bleacher Report. According to Baker "I was shocked to learn SHOXMVC didn't make the list." VanVleet was not immediately available for comment.

If Doug McDermott stayed at Creighton all four years......why would Ron or Fred leave a year early? Don't get me wrong.......all those guys are outstanding players but McDermott had way better offensive numbers then either Ron or Fred and he stayed.

He only stayed to prolong his dad's tenure at Creighton. I agree that Ron and Fred will be back but Doug McDermott is a bad example.

At this point I believe the following:

Fred will lead WSU to 30+ wins again next year (and somehow not be the POY) while setting numerous records and being named to several All America teams. He will be oft mentioned as someone "we'd like to have on our team" but isn't drafted. He'll be invited to a couple of draft camps, then a couple of preseason rosters where Popovich will give him a chance, much to the chagrin of Spurs fan who are split between 2 one and done burger boys. Fred will bide his time learning behind Tony Parker and in year 2 Pop gives Fred the keys and he makes NBA fans forget about John Stockton.

                        Yeah, he's that good.

VanVleet's improvement year-to-year seems to be ahead of Baker's. Baker was at or near the top of his game a little earlier than some players. That may have contributed to some early (So year) speculation about his being a mid-first-round pick. I think he improved this year, but probably not at the level of improvement to maintain speculation about being a first-rounder.

The NBA places a high importance on the age of their drafted players. If Ron stays at WSU another year, he'll be a 5th year senior and what, 23 years old? This was a knock on Cle too. He was an older guy and played a role in him falling to the 2nd round. IMO, I think that is a major factor he is considering along with his dream to play in the NBA. I think another year would be better off. Similar players like JJ Reddick and Kirk Hinrich played four years in college and both were 40 plus percent shooters from the 3. Ron's current average is 38 percent. He's not fast enough or can jump out of the gym so his game is going on the perimeter shooting, which again he needs to improve.
