If we don't have another Fred, I feel good that we can find another Joe Ragland (who became a good point guard but was really a combo guard). Conner, Tyrone, and Landry may all be nice point guard candidates.
    I think:
    - Tyrone will take over for Fred.
    - Landry will take over for Baker.

( Also, Zach Brown will take over for Cotton)

From the data we have now (I haven't seen them play against Div. 1 players), I would surmise the same thing. I think that coach will have Wessel play the three to begin the year although he may play the 4 to begin the year.

      • I think that come conference time FVV and RB will play ~ 30 mpg and CF will play ~ 20 mpg backing them up. CF will be a very good PG if one of the other frosh isn't ready.

Kelly will play ~ 20 mpg at the 4. EW, ZB, and MM will play the other 60 minutes at the forward spots.

        Center is still a concern.

There will of course be times where we play BW and SM at the same time to go big, or when Ron plays the 3 with ZB at the four to spread the floor.

Once again @wufan:, we are thinking alike, just from a different angle. You say "what you think" will happen, I say "what I hope" will happen.:poster_shocks:

I think Conner starts if he lives up to his all American hype

I thought about that, and if CF deserves to start, he will. That said, the starting five will already be well established when Conner regains eligibility 9 games in. Additionally, I hate the starting line-up of FVV, CF, RB, EW, and SM. We would go 6-0, 6-0, 6-4, 6-4, 6-7.

                  That's why I like FVV, RB, ZB, MM, SM. That's 6-0, 6-4, 6-6, 6-7*, 6-7.

I'm sure that line-up will happen some. MM is listed anywhere from 6-7 to 6-9 and definitely still growing. I assume he will be listed at 6-8 when he arrives on campus.

I don't see how Wessel doesn't start next year. Hopefully it is at the three with Kelly/McDuffie or Kelly/Hamilton at the four. Brown is a wing guard of the future, and perhaps sooner than later. Things obviously don't always work out the way we fans expect, but Brown/Kelly/McDuffie at the 3/4 looks promising in 2016-17. No telling what the ceiling is for Hamilton either.

It always looks loaded when you have 16 scholarship players and most of them have done not played D-I. :)

                            Any chance Brown sees some 2 post-Baker? 1 CF/Taylor, 2 Brown/Shamet, 3 McDuffie/Brown, 4 Kelly/Hamilton, 5 Morris/Hamilton/Nurger

I hope so! I think he's capable. My imagination looks like this:

                              Frankamp/Taylor
                              Shamet
                              Brown/McDuffie
                              Kelly/Hamilton
                              Morris/Nurger

Of course a little shifting around, but this nine man rotation is awesome when most of what I have to go by is highlight vids.

                              • Whether it is at the 3 or the 4, it is going to be hard to keep Zach Brown off the floor next year. The kid can play on both sides of the ball. Post Ron and Fred, I predict he will be the go to guy and the leader of the team.
