Obviously not that much... You did start it. Be confident that there won't be any rumor worth posting until after WSU has played its last game of the season.

HCGM didn't entertain offers while we were still in the tournament a few years ago. You can be sure he wouldn't do so during the regular season.

I'm thinking he will be commanding close to a 3 million dollar salary that would put him in the Top-10 of coaches nationally.
With the alumni base and other prominent people in/from ICT, WSU could make 3Gs a Top 10 paid coach.

There are probably several P5 schools on the wrong side of the bubble that have FANS prognosticating that Marshall (and/or Smart) is destined to be their next coach.

I completely disagree. I think if he leaves, he leaves to be able to coach elite talent on a consistent basis as well as prove all the doubters wrong. I'm sure he rightfully believes he's as good as any in the country and the best way to prove it is to compete against the best on equal terms year in and year out.

There are only a couple of handful of schools I would be that concerned about and this is right at the top of the list all things considered.

Sometimes I wish I was a mod; this thread would be trashed quicker than anyone could whistle Dixie. Complete bullshit!

Have no fear, Rick Barnes will have just enough success that he will keep his job. Then he will start another run of under-achieving.

Marshall is not driven solely by $$$$$. He has turned down UCLA and NC State, among others that offered significantlty more $$$$$.

I am not one who believes that he will never leave, but HCGM has been pretty transparent about what it would take. The list of programs I would worry about could be counted with two hands with fingers to spare.

I think this is where the Gregg Marshall to Texas rumor came from.

What was Duke before Coach K? UNC before Dean Smith? The were good programs the were taken to elite status.

Marshall is building an ELITE program and will start to draw ELITE talent.

Trust me, doing what they did would be more telling then going somewhere and simply continuing what someone else created.

                      You forgot football recruiting.

                        I never said he was.

I'm just saying a school like Texas could come in with crazy number; like $4+M/year. That would be tough for anyone to turn down.

Well, Ron and Evan will probably have already graduated so they can transfer straight over :) Marshall is as good as gone...

So much for good basketball in Wichita. It was a good run, folks.

I am not convinced that the coach even wants the headache of having to recruit "elite players" at that level. He is a great evaluator of talent and recruits HIS type of player instead chasing burger boys.

That is not to say he doesn't want 4 or 5 star talent. I just think he would rather find it and recruit it on his terms, and big school fan bases have expectations that don't necessarily synch with coach's philosophy.

Coach is a builder not a buyer.

What doubters? He has nothing to prove; one could argue he's already proved it without the baggage that comes with many of the elite players. I'm not sure coach Marshall wants to deal with the cutthroat tactics/politics of the shoe companies, the crooked AAU coaches/handlers and the blue-blood fans. Sure, anything is possible, but this still isn't a discussion we should be having at this point of the season and the OP needs to be kicked in the nuts for starting this thread.

Why would Texas pay anyone $4m a year?

Have you watched any of their home games?

There is little to no "physical" support for basketball in Austin.
