I'm just saying a school like Texas could come in with crazy number; like $4+M/year. That would be tough for anyone to turn down.

A school like Texas could have all of the check boxes checked on his list, yes, but it won't be $$$$ alone, even at Texas. Marshall has said many times, you can't buy happy. He and his family will have to buy in.

I am not convinced that the coach even wants the headache of having to recruit "elite players" at that level. He is a great evaluator of talent and recruits HIS type of player instead chasing burger boys.

That is not to say he doesn't want 4 or 5 star talent. I just think he would rather find it and recruit it on his terms, and big school fan bases have expectations that don't necessarily synch with coach's philosophy.

Coach is a builder not a buyer.

For all the reasons HCGM gives as to why he loves it here, I believe this is one he considers but doesn't talk about publicly.

Exactly my point. He would rather build his own, than chase the same kids on the lists. He can do that here. Not so much at the big schools.

Most likely, this will be the last time I post to this stupid thread, but I thought I better correct my error. Basketball ranks fifth at Texas University behind Football, Spring Football, Football Recruiting, and Baseball.

If Texass would fire a coach that in 16 seasons has a .694 winning percentage, averaged 25 wins a season, taken them to the NCAA Tournament 15 times with 5 Sweet Sixteens, 3 Elite Eights and 1 Final Four and an 18-14 record; then a replacement coach had better be prepared to do better than that for less than the 2.5 M (which some state legislators have been known to complain about) they're paying Barnes, because what Barnes has done isn't good enough. I think Marshall could be a more successful coach than Barnes at Texass, but I also think Marshall could be a more successful coach than Barnes right here at WSU, make almost as much money, not have to compete with football and not have to worry about being fired in three seasons just because he didn't win the conference and go to the final four every year.
