Marshall to Texas offseason rumors...

This is from a USA Today article back in 2013.
Marshall, 50, has been a head coach at only two schools: Winthrop (1998-2007) and Wichita State (2007-present). He's asked himself why he hasn't bounced around as much as his peers in the college coaching profession. He thinks, at least partially, it's because of advice he was given by longtime College of Charleston coach John Kresse: Stay where you're loved. Coach where you're appreciated.
Marshall felt that love and appreciation here all spring and all summer, every time a Wichita State fan gave him a pat on the back or asked to take a photo with him.
"We'd be going to places, and people are lining up to take a photo — literally the queue becomes 25 deep," Marshall says. "I said to my wife, 'Look, either we can't go out, or we've got to go out of town, or we have to deal with this. What do you want to do?' "
Marshall's wife, Lynn, turned to him and reminded him of a story. At the Final Four, she and their kids spotted Will Ferrell, star of one of their favorite movies, Anchorman. The normally reserved Lynn went up to him, introduced herself and asked for a photo.
"She goes, 'Had Will Ferrell told me, 'Get away from me, you freaky lady' or 'Stop bothering me — you're annoying, it would have broken my heart,' " Marshall says, laughing. "Now, I'm not Will Ferrell, but right now in this city, there's a buzz. She said to let it happen. It's been really fun."

Already? LOL
This will be my only contribution to any thread like this ever....
Whatever Marshall decides is best for him and his family he has earned my respect and gratitude. With the heights he has taken this program I refuse to worry about these things anymore. It only ruins the ride. At this point IF he chooses to ever leave I will be dissapointed but I won't be mad. I will only wish him luck. He has earned my support and good will for life. That is why I refuse to worry about things I can't control. I am just going to enjoy each day he is our coach. What happens...happens. I hope many feel the same."He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

I did look on the UT message board to see what they were saying (not much) but there was a Mizzou fan who said Marshall agreed to an 8 year 24 million dollar deal at Mizzou but they couldn't agree on a buyout clause. Where does this stuff even come from?

You know coach isn't leaving before Ron and Fred and Evan graduate...yep I said graduate, you don't see that very often but around here it's pretty normal I suppose. Coach could have the pick of many high profile programs in perhaps a power 5 conference, but he is already coaching a high profile team in a city where basketball is king and at a school where Shocker basketball is "IT". I also think money won't be a problem, I'm sure more raises and otheir bonuses are in the future. He seems like he relishes the role of the giant slayer, where he takes the 3 and 4 star players and takes on the 5 star boys (if they will play us). I feel he likes where the program is going and the type of players they are attracting, we do have our best overall class coming in along with what we have, so I think he, as I do, that anotheir Final Four run can be made. Why wouldn't he. Maybe he is in the process of building a big giant thorn in the side of the boys up north, after all basketball is the big attraction in this state. He likes it here, his wife Lynn likes it here, his kids like it here, maybe he will just stay here and win us our first National Title, wouldn't that be nice, and why not? Three Valley Titles in four years, National Coach of The Year, four straight NCAA apperances and counting, NIT Championship, Final Four, I think he likes the success they are having and the great group of players he is coaching. Someday I think he will have his Name hanging from the rafters, along with a few of his current players... go Shocks and I'm one of the people who isn't worried about him leaving....

I think Marshall could be a more successful coach than Barnes at Texass, but I also think Marshall could be a more successful coach than Barnes right here at WSU, make almost as much money, not have to compete with football and not have to worry about being fired in three seasons just because he didn't win the conference and go to the final four every year.
Take any of the past four seasons and six years ago most people would tell you that not one of those seasons would ever occur at Wichita state.
We might win a National Championship this year. The odds are against it but what were our odds of going undefeated last year?

UT is one of the teams that worries me as far as 3G leaving us. All the resources he would need. That being said, no way he leaves Fred, Evan, and Ron their senior years. If I had to bet, I'd say 3G leaves for UNC in a few seasons after Roy Williams retires/gets fired.
