Toughest game of the season, more so than the Utah game. It'll be close, slow and low scoring. Our D will be tough and our offense tougher.

      Shox - 55
      UNI - 53

Definitely the TOUGHEST game thus far this season!!!! These two teams know each other so well. I think the way UNI has been playing this season...they could beat almost anybody in the country. Great shooters...pretty dang good post, well-coached, etc. The Shockers are 100% absolutely good enough to beat them...but it's gonna take a very....VERY good effort. That crowd better be making some SERIOUS noise ALL GAME!!! The guys are gonna need it...but more importantly...UNI has so much confidence right now...they need to be SHOCKED by the ear-splitting insane NOISE from SHOCKER NATION!!!!!!!!!! I hoping it's sooooo loud they can't even hear themselves think!!!!

          GO SHOCKS!!!
          GO SHOCKERNATION!!!!!!!

I must admit, it is refreshing to see the difference in comments and predictions for this game after some of those calling for blowout wins in Cedar Fallls a month ago. Even some of the cockamaimee stuff that was thrown out after the game was pretty out there. The posts this time around are much more respectful of the Panthers, as a member of a fan base isn't that all we really want?

I think the thing that shocked me (pun intended) the most in the first game was that you guys didn't get that stretch of the game where you knock down three or four three pointers in a five minute stretch. That will happen this game, home floor, more comfortable surroundings, its just going to happen. Will we be able to with stand that when it does.

Another thing that concerns me a little, however im sure your in the same boat, is that we haven't played a basketball game with the final score inside single digits since January...

                74 WSU
                58 UNI
                Settle the score
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Someone needs to sneak into the UNI locker room and post pictures of

They will spend all morning arguing over it and won't be ready for the game!

You made a ton of solid observations and analysis but you lost me with the quote above. As usual, for most fans (including WSU) a lot of UNI fans are putting too much stock in their team's beatdown of WSU last month. Neither team played to their norm. Don't misunderstand me, UNI played well and deserves the lion's share of the credit for taking WSU out of what they wanted to. The Panthers imposed their will in a game they had to win and a game they did win, convincingly. But to say WSU needs to do something "in order to have any chance" is stupid. As long as Fred and Ron suit up, we have "a chance" against anyone and that includes all teams from Iowa 1 year removed from a .500 record. In no way am I dismissing UNI's chances. There is no doubt they're better than I thought they'd be. Tuttle was clowned by Carter last year and that matchup has done a 180. I think Morgan is fantastic so I'm not at all surprised by him. Washpun is more focused than I expected. Singleton is another guy that's made a quantum leap forward and his value is huge to the team I think. Bohannon, Jesperson, Mitchell & Buss do what they do and that's the standard for UNI. Their guys do what they do...they don't try and do something they can't and it limits their mistakes. They are unselfish and organized and believe in each other. All winning traits.

The depth argument is overrated though. UNI is 9 deep. WSU is 8 deep and even that is a little misleading with the value of Glass being completely different now than at the beginning of Valley play when he never got into the game.

Someone else commented about how WSU fans were predicting a blowout in Cedar Falls. Really? Nobody that I know. Don't try and stir up what isn't there.

What I really like about this game is that if both teams play well, I don't think either team can impose their will on the other, which should make for a fantastic game. I'm just hoping it's not a grab and hold flopping grindfest out there. I would hate for the game to look awful to a big audience.

I don't know who's going to win. Both teams are capable. I would just really hate to see a WSU team that has been so dominant only have the one title...they deserve better, but they are going to have to earn it and I know UNI wants it. Should be an incredible game.

                      Go Shocks!!!

you know what really sucks, the two seed in St. Louis is going to have a record of 16-2....

Before last year, how many times would that have not been the 1 seed and regular season champ?

This is a good observation. Honestly, either one of these teams would win the MVC 95% of the time over the last ~40 years. It will be a shame for the runner up.

                          Here's hoping it's you :)

Wichita State is the only team that has won 16 games in conference since SIU was 16-2 in 2002-2003 and 17-1 in 2003-2004.

                            Until this year, obviously.

Exactly. Is there a time in the last 5 years we have not been competitive at home? Let alone a time we needed to have several things go right to "have any chance to keep it competitive"? We are not playing Kentucky on Saturday and if we were we would have every chance to keep it competitive and plenty of a chance to win.

That said, I expect UNI to be a very difficult test.

uni might have the edge in depth/bench over wichita state. i don't like that.
