Hopefully teams will continue to chuck up shots from half court and get 3 free throws as I can't stand teams that foul up 3. Every time it happens I hope for a 4 point play and they lose.

I'm sure every team that's up three hopes the other team "chucks up shots from half court" hoping for a foul. Ain't gonna happen too often, pal. You have to know what you're doing. But if you do, fouling is the smart play. You may not like it but it's the truth. Show me a coach who doesn't do it and I'll show you a coach who loses games he shouldn't.

Kansas State led Texas Southern by 2 points with less than 2 seconds left Tex Southern and Tex Southern missed the FT got the tip in with 0.9 seconds left then Kansas State threw it away and Tex Southern hit the game winner at the buzzer.

You're like the blackjack player who hits on 19, gets a 2 and is convinced he made the "smart" play. Of course it's possible to lose if you foul up 3, but if you do it right your chances of losing are much lower than allowing a shot to tie.

Penn State up 3 just fouled Purdue on purpose too bad for Purdue they missed the first FT because they missed the 2nd got the rebound and hit a 3 pointer to tie the game would have liked to see a 4 point trip and a win after that foul.

Did Penn State lose. NO. They made the smart play. Some people never learn. For every example like this I'll show you 20 where as guy hits a 3 to tie because the coach was scared to foul.

Kenpom has plenty of data that refutes the fouling strategy. The biggest swing is caused by the ability to instantly lose.

That's old data from 2010-11. The more teams figure out how to do it, the more fool proof the fouling strategy is. This season teams up 3 who intentionally foul with less than five seconds left are unbeaten. Ask the Depauw coach who lost three games by not fouling. He now fouls every time and has never lost any of those games. He ran the numbers. Google it. You'll be convinced.

Did you think they were horrible?

Admittedly, I have not actually seen them play all year until now. I thought they relied on just 3-pt shooting and illegal screens/jump shots but they actually have some players they can throw the ball to and say "go score" (Tuttle, Mitchell). They also are playing good defense without fouling.

It's tape on Ruder's arm. I agree about Buss but not tuttle. The dude is strong.
