I guess I was at the wrong game ... where is our Tournament trophy!

Good question, I didn't see anyone else, but I did see the Woodall kid was there, and he led PITT for 19 points against us that day for a victory.

Gonzaga is prepping to have to play us. They should be. We are a team. Pitt is a good team with A great player. We have quite a few very good players.

I don't expect a walk-over... in the first half. But we will beat these fools down worse than we did Seton Hall in 2006.

              Shockers 75 - 55 Pittsburg

The next round will be the war. Olynyk is a great player and legit 7 ft. If EO is going to be a defensive presence, this will be his chance. We need solid guard play, excellent rebounding, and the ability to protect the ball. This is the key to all teams in the tournament though. I like our chances.

              Shockers 80 - 75 Gonzaga.

The TV people are wrong. Pitt can score with anybody. They usually don't score a lot because they play at a super slow pace. Those comments were just an overreaction to the Notre Dame game.

Pitt is an interesting matchup because one guy does not dominate for them. Their top three guys are Tray Woodall (23.5% of possessions), Talib Zanna (22.8% possessions) and Lamar Patterson (21.6% possessions). All three are very efficient players. Don't be surprised if Demetric guards Woodall and Cotton guards Patterson. Patterson is taller and bigger and he'd be a mismatch for anyone else.

Congrats on the at-large and good luck against Pittsburgh! Will be rooting for the Shockers.

We at VCU got the 5-12 mid-major curse you guys got last year with a pretty strong Akron team. Hopefully the black and gold teams have a good weekend!

                      LET'S GO SHOCKERS!

Take it for what is it worth, but if the various statistical ranking systems are to be trusted, Pitt should have been much better than a 8 seed and this isn't nearly as good a draw as we could have gotten even if we were worse than a 9 seed (UCLA for instance). Their composite ranking is #13 in the nation to our #34. Granted, our injury issues affect our ranking, but if that #13 number is even remotely close to being accurate, Pitt is way underseeded.

Here are the teams they have lost to this year:

                        Michigan - 67-62
                        Cincinnati - 70-61
                        Rutgers - 67-62
                        Marquette (2x) - 74-67OT and 79-69
                        Louisville - 64-61
                        Notre Dame - 51-42
                        Syracuse - 62-59

Rutgers is the only mediocre team in that bunch. All the others are NCAA teams, and most are good seeds.

                        Here are their best wins:

                        Georgetown - 73-45
                        Villanova (2x) - 58-43 and 73-64OT
                        UCONN - 69-61
                        Syracuse - 65-55

This was discussed on ESPN. Based on BPI ratings, Pitt shuold have been as high as a 4 seed. We should have been as high as a 6. A big factor in their seeding was that the number 1 seed was Louisville, which forced the next three teams in the Big East to the other regions and pushed Pitt out to the West into a lower seed. Having said that, I still like it. Much tougher than being an 11 against a 6, but I like our chances anyway..

Also, we had common opponents in DePaul and Detroit. They won all of their gams beating Detroit in Pittsburgh by 13 and solidly beating DePaul in two games by large (15-25 point) margins.
