    • It was so nice to watch a game without Valley refs. There was a great flow to the game, which helped contribute to the flying up & down the court.

This is a great shot to show the elevation he gets but he had a play where he attempted to block a shot and the guy next to me and I looked at each other and our jaws were just slack at how high he elevated. I tapped Kung Wu on the shoulder and said " I knew he got up there but that was just awsome" and he just nodded and smiled. The man is a sight to behold. Also look no Jackie Chan leg kick.

What a great looking game without referee interference, fluid offense on both sides, better D on our side, thought Jake White did a better job on D on the Minotaur than anyone else, Fred VV was way better tonight than any other so far (We are going to REALLY love this guy over the next 3+ years) Everyone contributed that played either D or O. It was a thing of beauty.
like everyone else i like watching the up tempo and we can certainly play it with our depth. glad to see
someone else besides myself notice JW's D on minnerath ( who was a stud ). minnerath really got it
rolling during one stretch in the second half but JW came in and really dogged him for 4-5 minutes and
we opened it up. in an offensive game periods of good D can make a big difference and we had some
good TEAM defensive moments ( orupe, hall, cotton, etc )

            • Is there any footage of anderson's dunk? Did it make the top ten. I am out of town with no ESPN.

              • BB really produced some great games for us. I for one am sad to see it end. I know that we usually played teams with a higher RPI but think of the good games we had. The game at Utah State, Davidson and the home games against GM, VCU and this years game against Detroit. We received alot of national press from the games.

                • Our Shocks have surpassed what the prognosticaters thought and predicted at preseason. We were picked 2-4 in the Valley and if I recall, somebody came on here even saying we would take 6th? Then others predicted Detroit to upset us yesterday. I like flying under the radar with such impressive results. Most everybody we play really think they have a great shot to beat us. Very few getter done.

When our Shocks get the the foul line so frequent as yesterday, make the throws, keep the turnovers under 10, diving for loose balls, making shots as our guards play was very very good, then throw in a twist of our defensive flurries that ignite our offense, we then become a very tough team to beat, especially with fresh and quality reinforcement players subbing in at wholesale frequency, as we wear down our opponents. Shocker bench 34---Detroit bench 0. Nuff said.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

obviously for selfish reason I do as well but at the same time...

Minnerath seemed afraid to contest some shots - I think he was overly concerned with getting into foul trouble. Howard, the best defensive player, was out with an injury suffered in practice. But don't sell your own guys short - Detroit's defense gambles a lot, and is in the top 10 teams in the country in turnover margin. When it doesn't work, teams get easy buckets. But it works enough that Detroit usually comes out ahead in the exchange. Today, after the first 5 minutes, the Shockers had almost no turnovers and actually won that statistical measure. Give your guards lots of credit for handling the ball against Detroit's pressure, trapping defense. And Wichita's offense was great, moving the ball, hitting from long range, driving. It was a great offensive display by the Shockers.

Well, back to my home board. Congrats on a nice win in a clean, hard-played, exciting game.
I could watch Detroit play anytime of the week. Only knock is the defense. Obviously my outlook is a bit biased but that was just a FUN game to watch. We contolled the game but there was always that fear that you all could come back (which you did) hard to explain gjust overall a really good basketball game.

                    • Watching the replay on ESPN3, why do they have the crowd muted? That's not the first time I've noticed the same issue.

Because you couldn't hear the announcers inside Koch if you didn't (not that I think that wouldn't be a good tradeoff, but I doubt the announcers agree).

So the announcers can be heard.

In Koch, if they don't mute the crowd you'd either never hear the announcers or they would have to yell the entire game. I've noticed ESPN doing that in several notoriously loud arenas. Funny, though, I've never noticed them muting the CLink, especially when we play there...

                            • Anyone else notice Darrin Horn calling the game yesterday? Somewhat ironic I think. I wonder what coach thought of that if anything.

He probably thought it was a nice real life example of where you can end up after a few mediocre seasons at a mid-level BCS school. Better to just stay at WSU and get into the top 25 on a regular basis.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.
