Based on the content of most posts, I am not doing a very good job.
But I keep trying, and once again, have never charged a dime to SN for my services.
Besides, who the hell are you to diss Lonesome Dave and the boys?
Just because they never passed along any back stage concert passes to you back in '78 is no reason to rip on them.
That is all.Above all, make the right call.

I have to concur with ABC that the officiating was different. I know there is no such things as "Valley" or "Big XII-2" refs, as officials work multiple leagues. But do conferences ask for particular emphasis on calling things tighter or looser? Or is that more of a geographical difference? Saturday's refs really let them play and bang around a lot more than the guys we usually see here.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

ShockRef was trying to point out there is no such thing as a "Valley ref". That is correct, but there is definitely something that is "Valley officiating". To be technically accurate, the original post that caused the wadded panties would have said some like.
It sure was nice to watch a game without Valley officiating points of emphasis and grading of officials. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Points of emphasis play a part to be sure. And it wouldn't surprise me if the Valley prefers to have things played a little slower. Lets face it, many of the teams in the conference aren't the most athletically gifted and aren't capable of playing fast. Being that it's a grind it out style, you're going to have more fouls called and it may be because the Valley office wants it that way, but at the same time, the style of the two teams on the court can often dictate how the game will be called as well.
The MVC has some top notch officials no matter what the fans think. Are there some that aren't as good? Sure. Do some have bad nights? Absolutely. But if we had "Valley refs" in the game against Detroit, I think it would have been called in a similar way.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

I think you have the ESPN and "tournament" factor that played into how the game was called. League games are more than likely going to be called differently than a one-game Bracket Busters format."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."

I wish we would get out quickly on defensive rebounds, and even makes like we did against Detroit. I know Valley teams get back quick, but i bet we could get a few easy buckets a time or 2 per game."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

How about the lack of defense?
When was the last time you saw uncontested 50' passes by a Valley PG zip in under the basket for bunnies?
When was the last time you saw a Valley team constantly get beat back down the floor for lay ups??
Remember this - ALL NCAA officials, regardless of leagues they work are essentially working for one guy - John Adams.
He is numero uno and The Guy when it comes to Tournament selections.
That gents, is what every official at this level aspires to work.
You can be assured he grades every eligible official, working in every league, when it comes time to hand out the coveted assignments.
I can also assure you he doesn't have a different grading system when it comes to various officials.
Trust SRAbove all, make the right call.
