I don't know where to put this but I guess here is as good as anywhere. It almost deserves its own thread.

Myron Metcalf is a moron. I've followed his bloggy stuff for a couple years and he doesn't know much. I have no clue why he landed at ESPN and why he gets a spot to write for them. Here's a fantastic gem today in his chat session:

We better hit up Myron when that happens. Apparently, we're just so hurt and have regressed since Carl went down. Definitely not a challenge for the BJ's in the Valley.

No offense intended at all towards The Beast, but how has his absence "clearly hurt" us? It goes without saying that we're better with him in the line up, and no one can replace said Beast, but we've had some players truly step up and make up for his absence in different ways. Consequently, we are undefeated in his absence, and against some pretty good competition. THAT is what defines a good team--not just merely having 5 healthy starters. Myron's logic is severely flawed.

I can actually respect his explanation, even if I don't agree with it. He pretty much said his rankings reflect who he thinks are the best 25 right now, and not what 25 teams have the best body of work, like a computer rating. It's common sense that a team will not be as good without their top scorer and rebounder. Since losing Carl we haven't played anyone who could be considered top 25 material. If he believed we were a top 20-25 team with him, I could see him thinking we're just outside that position without him.

Again, not that I agree, just that I can see his way of looking at it.

Not to have the unpopular opinion on here (or maybe that's exactly what it is) but a lot of you are complaining about VCU or KU being ahead of us. If we played VCU or KU on a neutral floor tomorrow I would pick us to lose them both. We have guys injured, we have guys not playing 100%, and the fact is we haven't played against a "top notch" zone defense since Carl Hall has been out. I think VCU would spank us tomorrow, maybe we keep it within 10 but I wouldn't bet on it if we shoot our astounding 32% from 3 point range, any given night we could get hot and beat anyone right now, but I see nothing wrong with us being ranked 23rd. There are very few teams (if any) ranked ahead of us in the AP that I think we are legitimately better than on a neutral court with Carl Hall out. Could we come out ahead against all of these teams on any given night, yes, but if we played 10 games against each on a neutral court tomorrow I'm betting we aren't better than any or most of the teams ranked ahead of us. Get Carl Hall back and learn to play against the Zone a little better and I see us ranked around 11-15th.

Unpopular view, yes, but without Carl Hall we just flat out are not better than most of those teams.

If we played VCU and they prepped the zone against us for tomorrow I would predict a 15+ point loss easy if we shoot 32% from 3 point range...

Did I miss something? If WSU had a loss somewhere, or was "clearly" struggling then maybe I could agree - but it is not clear at all. In some ways, although unfortunate for Call Hall, his injury has actually forced some players to grow and contribute more quickly than they might have with him uninjured and in the lineup that actually might help WSU compete for the title and compete on the national stage.

It clear he doesnt follow our Shocks and doesnt know his head from his arse about them. He probably doesnt care either.
