        • and VCU 23 with three losses?!! I guess they are being rewarded for 'close losses' to Mizzou and Duke.

You may call it ridiculous, I call it fanning the flame. :)
"Ralph Miller was one of the finest coaches in the history of intercollegiate basketball. His teams were always fundamentally sound, team oriented, well conditioned, and ran both their offense and defense with great patience. I know of no coach whose teams competed against his, whether it be at Wichita State, Iowa, or Oregon State, who did not have great respect for him."—John Wooden

              • Is it incompetence on the part of the coaches or does HCGM have that many enemies? Oh well his enemies are my enemies. Piss on em!

Coaches are focused on their team and on the team they play next. They really aren't incredibly informed on every team in college basketball, and most honestly just let an assistant fill it out for them. I don't take too much from the coaches' poll, though it would be nice to get more recognition.

I guess beating Lehigh by 4 points at home really impressed the coaches. Or maybe it was their big win over 1-12 East Tennessee St. That was the only 2 games VCU played last week.

NC State did beat 1-10 UNC Greensboro at home and a 8-6 Boston College team last week. That should be enough to jump 5 spots. NOT

Well UK played just one game this week. It was against Eastern Michigan (4-7) at home. Surprisingly UK won. I guess that was worth a big jump. :nonchalance:

And Lehigh's best player and likely All-American (McCallum) suffered what may be a season-ending injury in the first half of that VCU game.

I think it just a little media bias. VCU won, and other teams in the top 25 lost. They expect VCU to be good, so VCU is the team that is moved up to replace them instead of a team that many of them had written off before the start of the year. I distinctly remember asking a ESPN college basketball guy (through one of their comment things, not in real life) if Wichita State could reload like Kentucky tries to do, and they completely laughed off the notion. And here we are sitting with a 14-1 record and unranked, while 9-4 Kentucky is #20 in ESPN's poll.

Kentucky's schedule is a joke. Here is a list of their wins:

                              Northwood
                              Transylvania
                              Maryland (good job Turge)
                              Lafayette
                              Morehead State
                              LIU Brooklyn
                              Samford
                              Portland
                              Marshall
                              Eastern Michigan

Their losses are to the best teams they've played: Notre Dame, Baylor, Duke, Louisville.

How does this schedule/results deserve a ranking?

And they have a rpi of 62! If the ncaa committee made the selections today, UK would be in the NIT.
