I was wondering if HCPM would be getting any bonuses for each conference tournament win, so I took a look at his contract (https://www.wichita.edu/about/public..._contracts.php) and no bonuses for individual wins, but there is a huge incentive to win the conference tournament:
Conference Tournament Champion - 1 year contract extension with a guaranteed compensation of $1,600,000.
There are also bonuses for wins in the NCAA tournament, such as $25K for making the round of 32 and $100K for winning the NCAA tournament. All of the bonuses are listed on the last page of the contract (p. 21).
The 1 year contract extension for being conference tournament champion is in the contracts of other head coaches hired by Saal, such as Nooner and Green, although the compensations are less than Mills and more in line with their annual salaries. Not responsible for damage from posts that sail over the reader's head.

oof, not a fan of the automatic extension for the exact reason we are seeing here. While these are fun wins .. the year as a whole wasn't good.
Like there is a real risk that WSU is going to run all the way through AAC tournament. But you know what, if they would actually do it, it would put a whole different spin on this season.

Can’t belittle tourney appearances at this point, IMO.
Not belittling it .. but a contract extension? no .. just no. That is stupid

The only Q1 game in this entire tournament is FAU. So if FAU would get upset before we play them, we would enter the tourney not winning a Q1 game all year ... and yet again, we would be a 13, probably a 14 seed (our net is 150). So yet again, giving someone an extension for that would be absolutely stupid. Give him a bonus .. absolutely... but an extension? no.
If you wanted to say extension for a Sweet 16 .. sure, I'd buy that. They would likely have to at least beat a couple really good teams or go in with a high seed to get that.
Likely a moot point since I don't think our legs are going to last.
