You must be talking about Ryan Murphy. He was a great player for Washburn. They played in the National Championship game when he was there. They got beat but the team that beat them got the championship taken away for illegal recruiting.

Interesting... he was one I was interested in as a WSU coach. Was a high risk/high reward.

What's interesting is he's only halfway through his first year. and the bucks are in 2nd place overall in the Easter conference. They are 30-13 .. so not struggling. Wonder what happened.
Internal issues, nothing bad or criminal just not doing well managing the responsibilities of HC and all the people under him (including players)
Brummett throws, STRUCK HIM OUT! THE SHOCKERS ARE NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! AN UNBELIEVABLE STORY!

didn't circle have a big man that went on to play at New Mexico in the mid 80s? I remember seeing him play in HS

Murph was a better person than a player. And he was a hell of a player. He turned down ORU. KSU took the 7 foot kid that wasn't very skilled from I believe Goddard. Sutton tried to get him to leave Washburn after his first two years there and go to OSU. He obviously declined.

Ryan is still one of my favorite humans ever.

Before my time. The only name that kind of jumps out to me is Bud Cole (I think) but I don't know what his fate was. He held a lot of records for a long time.

I agree. I didn’t know him very well but I saw how he interacted with fans and opponents. Definitely a class act. He is in the Washburn hall of fame. He stated that Washburn was a great choice for him. He is 3rd in scoring at Washburn which is a great achievement. Bob Chipman had great players and great teams in the 38 years he was the head coach. I have went to many, many games there since 1993.

LOL, Bud Cole. He went to Butler Co and played for a year or 2 then transferred and graduated from WSU as a regular student. I knew him in college, small world. Maybe the guy I'm thinking of didn't go to Circle.

It could have been someone else from there. I only know Bud from looking at the records case while I was in school. My brother graduated in the early 90s, he's much older than me, and that's about the first era of Circle I have any real knowledge of. I know we had a big guy that graduated in or around '95 that played at WSU in Dan Claycamp. He's a good guy too. I love his wife. She's awesome. But Dan graduated before I got the HS. I always wished that Randy would have recruited Tyler Bacon. He may be the best athlete to come out of Circle (Basketball). He was 6'6" and a tremendous athlete that could shoot and get after it on defense. Ended up playing at Robert Morris before playing in Europe for awhile.

                  Memories.

Bud was a big dude. First came to know him as the bouncer at the Flicker when I would try to sneak in underage. He was an alum of my fraternity so he'd come around periodically to harass us.

                        • Does Bud Cole have any eligibility left and can he make free throw without turning it over?
