  • I have to admit I've lost a lot of interest in college sports the past few seasons and I'm doing my best to overcome it. Didn't Porter Moser struggle his first year at Oklahoma after a successful stint at Loyola? I recall OU struggling in the Big 12 last year although they did finish the season with a winning record. I know Moser didn't inherit a 'dumpster fire' following in the footsteps of Lon Kruger. At this point in his first season, I'm not ready to throw Paul Mills to the wolves.

I think we're all somewhere here...

        • Mills is here for 3 or 4 seasons for sure. Last in the conference this year and next might change that, maybe.

"He was there in the bunker with Scott Drew when Baylor lost 14 straight games to end the 2004-05 season."

Are low ranking Directors of Ops and Special Assistants "in the bunker" or "behind the front lines"?

                  • i heard kevin saal on the local sports radio shows three times last week (bob and jeff, 1240 morning, 1410 morning). i wouldn't know if he reads shockernet, but he seems to be getting the drift. he was being very defensive about mills. lecturing about the history of baylor and oru basketball (mills connections).

he shouldn't be uptight about the shocker fans. he should be uptight about the lack of second half adjustments.

                    • Wichita State basketball wants to ‘face problems head on’ to end losing streak

First-year coach Paul Mills and Shocker players give their thoughts on what needs to happen following the team’s seventh straight loss on Sunday.

Platitudes and clichés not going to get it done. First thing you need to do is admit what your are doing isn't working and that you are just not good at this point. If you keep doing the same stuff with the the same people you can expect...wait for it... the same thing. I you are unwilling to change things up is an indication that perhaps you do not have the ability to make positive changes. This is what we do, this is who does it, and this is what we are...live with it.

It isn't just the men's program that is not good, although the men's program is far and way the most important program we have. Coach Nooner is not exactly knocking it out of the park with the women's basketball team either. At least Mills has a couple of promising recruits signed. Not sure the same can be said with the womens' team. Kind of holding my breath about how Coach Green will do with the baseball program. If ADKS goes 0-3 on these hires he may not be the man for the job. The problem is how long can we muddle along in the current environment in college sports before we pass the point of no return.

If necessary (hopefully not), until such time as whenever the guarantees in each of their 4 contracts are gone. The bank may be closed.

His predecessor's firing came on the heels of fans putting up a billboard to that effect. He should be uptight about that.

                            • ADKS and Mills both knew they were walking into a program with a passionate fanbase. When you reach historic low points, how do they expect the fanbase to react?
