If the money isn't there to pay the buyout and pay Marshall still plus pay your new coach, you can't fire him. I'm sure once those are lined up it will happen.

Though my point was a President or AD can't come out and say you are only keeping a coach until you have money to fire him. You either have the money and fire him or you don't say anything.

Friends or not FIRE IB / staff and retain Kennedy for the rest of the season. No cost because Kennedy is already on the payroll. Start taking applications for next season asap. There is a lot of house cleaning to be done. If Saal can't make it happen then he is at risk, as well. Just remember the old saying - nice guys finish last.

Yet again... If the money isn't there... What type of coach do you think we will get next year? We are contractually obligated to pay about 3 million a year for the next 2-3 years to Marshall and Brown no matter what. We probably need another 1.5 million or 2 per year for a quality head coach.

ADKS is not at risk at the moment but if he makes a rash decision without the funding in place to end up in a better place than we are now... He might be at risk then.

How to afford...

Find a good up and coming coach that's ready for the big-time, wants the opportunity to coach in the Round House....and gets CHILLS walking into the Round House on GAMENIGHTS. Then "incentivize" the crap out of the contract.

- 1st year salary = $750,000
- Finish Top-3 in AAC = $125,000 bonus.
- Make NCAA Tourney = $125,000 bonus.

Now you have a million dolllar coach.

- Win a game in NCAA Tourney = $200,000 bonus.

- Win another game and make the Sweet-16 = $300,000 bonus.

Now you're at a 1.5 million dollar coach.

KEEP all your good players heading into year 2...and finish Top-3 in league play again = $750,000 bonus on top of a raise that pays year 2 salary at $1,000,000. New coach at $1,750,000.

Just by keeping the top talent and finishing Top-3 in league in year 2...the new coach is at 1.75 million. Plus the NCAA Tourney bonuses (same as previous year) are up for grabs for new coach and the new coach now has the means to make over 2 million in year 2 by winning 2 games in NCAA Tourney.

Year 3 for new coach = All done with paying GM and IB. So rip up the contract and reward the new coach with a whammy of a deal to keep it going!

There's the quick fix.

Also...Crowd fund and local businesses fund NIL to get the 3-4 stars players for new coach in Year 1. That would help jumpstart.

Anyone who didn’t see this coming from day 1 is fooling themselves. IB is clearly deficient of the mental capacity to lead a group of young men. At the very least, get these guys to defend, rebound, and ply hard. I watched my first game in bout a month today. The lack of effort was embarrassing. That alone should get the entire coaching staff fired. You cannot afford not to do so.

It's clear that not much thought went into IB's contract. Wonder how the big donors that didn't have GM's back feel now? They should collectively pony up and cover both contracts. There is one person sleeping well with a smile on his face and that is GM.
