I know I'm late to the party here, and I haven't read through everything by any stretch of the imagination, but is there any chance there's a misunderstand of "sue" and maybe WSU, who uses the billboards, has a clause in their contract with Lamar about running non WSU (for lack of a better definition) ads?

Just thinking out loud.

Either way, they're using legal action to silence fans and that's the story. Be it trying to sue the creators or applying pressure on Lamar for whatever they may have between them.

I figured the Lamar billboard wouldn't last. KU fans tried to do this with their AD several years ago with the same result and Lamar caved.....

(warning - if you read any of the articles about the billboard, the web site mentioned on the billboard no longer has KU stuff but has become a Japanese porn site or something along those lines. You don't want to open it at work or probably any computer without an antivirus or malware checker. In a way, it's probably become more popular than a KU home football game)

The billboard did get a lot of press - just google 'ku football billboard', articles appeared in USA Today, CBS Sports, and lots of web sites - and lives on in google images and twitter. The USA Today article included a link to a screenshot supposedly from Lamar regarding taking down the billboard - it says something about a part of the billboard contract. They did give the guy a full refund.

People inside WSU athletics seem to want to defend DB to the end. I'm not sure why, and they all seem dead set on it. If there are these inside reasons, we as the public need to know them. Sooner than later.

This seems pretty straight forward why people inside athletics defend DB ..

From my understanding of the University Hierarchy, the AD reports to the University President. Which means there is really only 1 person with power over the AD while there are a LOT of people under the AD. If the AD is willing to threaten Fans and Donors who are not in his direct control and in fact are the ones that pay his salary ... what do you think he would do to people who report to him who he has control over whether they continue to get a paycheck.... They aren't going to throw him under the bus because they would lose their job the same day.

As far as why they won’t leave the AAC, i’m honestly not surprised at this point:

-They vehemently refuse to bring back football because starting over at anything but D-1 isn’t a option

-Adamantly refuse to use city venues for basketball and baseball when parking is a big problem at WSU

At the very least all’s I can say is that the people that run WSU don’t think outside the box very often

You have got to be kidding. "Leave the AAC"???
That would be the dumbest possible thing the school could do. You might as well say, "Leave TV!!" The AAC's ESPN contract has put Shocker basketball in more prime spots than its ever been in. That will probably increase even with the expansion.
The AAC ESPN contracted revenue is locked in for the next decade.
Only an idiot would support that.

Who the hell wants to leave the AAC?

Even in its upcoming damaged and diluted state it is clearly superior to the MVC. The changes do bring it down more in line with the MWC and A10 with respect to MBB, but gah... you can keep the MVC. Freaking LOLoyola even had the sense and means to jump off that sinking ship.

Nobody with a brain is calling to leave the AAC.

The rational human beings on this platform are calling to WIN the AAC.
