At current interest rates of say 2.5% a $1,000,000 endowment will generate $25,000. If you are starting out spending $12,500 per year you are just wasting your time. May as well find something more worthwhile to throw a measly $1mm at.

The City of Wichita is dropping 5 megadollars on Towne East aren't they? If they instead created a 5 megadollar endowment for WSU, the local uni would keep the economy buzzing with splashy player after player acquisition, and giving us deep tourney runs. That endowment would easily pay itself back many times over as the decades roll on.

Saving is for those with extra resources who have already met their budget requirements. We not only have zero NiL funds, we don't even have a plan right now. To get the ship righted, we will need $2M a year IMMEDIATELY coming in. If we can raise $3M, then saving might be an option. But if spending $3M gets us an extra 4* recruit, wouldn't it be better spent on that? If a F4 run equates to $500M in university advertising.......

Pie in the sky though. We are behind the 8-ball right now to the point that we may not even be relevant in a few years. In other words, money or no money... recruits won't care. We are in a diminishing conference and the NiL expenditures that are about to happen in the power conferences will be enough to make one's eyes water. After all the checks are cashed, there may be nothing left to buy but 2 and 3* recruits.

CK (and several other wealthy Wichitan's) were invested in GM, and what he could do for Wichita State, and Wichita. They saw him as a "Winner" that needed to be kept around for Wichita to be in "lights" on a national basis. That ship has sailed for all of our GM detractors.

The ROI for a school buying a basket of 4 and 5 star players is absolutely quantifiable. It's up to IDon'tKnowWho to save us. It sure as FACK won't be the NCAA.

I stopped reading right here. Think about what you just said. ONE 4* recruit is going to take us to the F4 without a lightning-in-a-bottle coach like HC3GM, when there are schools loading up on many 5* recruits?

No, spending stupid today is NOT going to work. It will help with ticket sales again, which is important for sure, but it will not lead to the large paydays. If you want to get to the 500 megadollar paydays, you will need a recurring revenue stream.
