They could play UConn 9 times. First one to 5 wins is the conference champion.

KU football could join the league Larry High plays in.

I am assuming you meant to say the NCAA may cease to exist as we know it in two years. I would agree with that being a definite possibility. What kind of system or structure succeeds such an event is anyone's guess. In any case, it is sounding like it could be a real free-for-all. Load up on the popcorn.

The Beakers are gong to have to do something should OU and Texas join the SEC. The fact they have requested/scheduled a meeting with the B1G informs KU Admin wants to be proactive and hope to come out ahead in the potential realignment. Joining the BE is not IMO their best option; they need to be even more aggressive than simply trying to "beg" their way into a P4 conference given their dismal football program (after all football TV contracts is what is driving this potential realignment).

Unlikely any legacy P4 schools will be asked to leave their respective conferences; therefore, eight (8) schools with quality football programs could be recruited. If correct, those schools outside the newly aligned P4 Conferences should rethink their financial commitments to football and plan to either downsize the financial commitment or eliminate football from their AD.

Given the financial greed being displayed by the P4 conferences, could they plan to remove the NCAA from March Madness and add this pot of gold to their coffers? IMO this is a likely scenario waiting to unveil itself once the P5 becomes the P4; which is why I think the remaining eight members of the Big 12 should convene a meeting with all conferences outside the P4 who have quality basketball programs. By taking an aggressive stance these schools could save the existing March Madness format or provide a quality March Basketball Tournament equal to what the P4 conferences could provide.

Assuming the P4 schools offer a 16 team tournament with four Regions, Lunardi's latest bracketology forecast would provide the following games -

1 Seed Michigan vs 4 Seed Auburn
1 Seed UCLA vs 4 Seed Florida State
1 Seed Purdue vs 4 Seed Oregon
1 Seed Kentucky vs 4 Seed UNC
2 Seed Texas vs 3 Seed Michigan State
2 Seed Ohio State vs 3 Seed Arkansas
2 Seed Duke vs 3 Seed Tennessee
2 Seed Maryland vs 3 Seed Alabama

The non-P4 conferences could could counter with the following games -

1 Seed Gonzaga vs 4 Seed Loyola of Chicago
1 Seed Kansas vs 4 Seed St Marys
1 Seed Baylor vs 4 Seed Richmond
1 Seed Villanova vs 4 Seed Oklahoma State
2 Seed Houston vs 3 Seed San Diego State
2 Seed UConn vs 3 Seed Memphis
2 Seed St Bonaventure vs 3 Seed West Virginia
2 Seed Texas Tech vs 3 Seed Xavier

Perhaps the two Tournament Champions could play one another for the National Championship? I prefer this two tournament format as the also ran P4 schools would be denied the invitations and seedings they currently enjoy under the NCAA's March Madness Tournament. Should the non-P4 conferences wish to sponsor a 32 team tournament, using Kenpom (2020) to augment Lunardi's selections the Shockers would receive a 16 Seed (along with St Johns, Davidson, and North Texas).

              • It’s best for WSU if KU goes to the B1G.
The more the Big 12 conference is raided the better chance the AAC can raid remaining Big 12 teams rather than the other way around. WSU wants a strong(er) AAC. The only other attractive option for WSU is the BE if they happen to expand to become a super basketball conference.

                • Two more rumors to report.

SEC is looking to expand to 20-24 teams and create its own CFB division.

The AAC is standing strong and has the backing of ESPN AAC is looking to add to its ranks and ESPN is backing it.

If ESPN is backing the AAC, then the remnants of the B12 are hosed. It is absolutely logical for ESPN to back the AAC. They can deal Fox Sports a near death blow.

KU to the B1G is (IMHO) DOA. The basketball revenue they could bring to the league wouldn't offset the FB share they would receive for providing absolutely nothing to that revenue. Texas tech and OSU to the PAC could happen. At that point the AAC can offer bigger TV markets than the B12 remnants can get on their own. If none of the AAC teams jump to the remnants of the B12, those remnants have little choice but to join the AAC.

Gonna be quite the chess match coming up. I think Aresco can outmaneuver Bowlsby, and the remnants of the B12 may not be that fond of Bowlsby any way.

                    • It's more likely WSU joins the B12 than BE (and both are unlikely). Other than not having a football program WSU does not fit the obvious profile of Big Priest schools. Not sure why everyone is forgetting that little nugget.

                      • The BE lost their continuity by adding UCONN.

Public schools are fair game now.

                          • I really like how the America is set up with city schools (Wichita, Memphis, Cincinnati, Houston, Tulsa). Losing a few of those and inheriting say Kansas St., Iowa St, etc...seems so discombobulated. I don't like this.

                            • If they want to go with 16 schools (instead of, say 20), they dream scenario would be:

                              - Absorb all the B12 schools
                              - Hope they want to keep Navy/WSU and drop ECU, Tulane, and Tulsa.

That gets you a pretty salty 16 team conference.

Terrible comparison...UConn is a charter member of the BE
