If Pac goes after B12 members it will be amongst the group of Kansas, ISU, TT, OSU.

KU likely in the driver's seat. Hoops tradition plus AAU school.
OSU almost a done deal. Wouldn't be shocked if TT went with.

Nobody wants Kansas, but the PAC might hold their nose. Problem is is it adds another timezone.

ISU also too far, better chances in the B1G, and thats laughable.

Nobody is talking about the mountain west. KSU, ISU, and TCU fit in very well there from a FB standpoint.

The same rumor mill I was in over the weekend that said ESPN was trying to bring schools over to the AAC.

It's one way to prevent a lawsuit ... Make sure the conference is COMPLETELY gone

              • This whole thing makes me uneasy. I hope WSU has a few backup plans if things goes south.

OSU and Tech in but they don’t want KU because it adds another time zone? Huh?

I think what he meant was they don't want KU because they don't play football.

I am consistent in the belief the goal should be getting in the NCAA every year. That is where basketball brands are built. That is what brings in the recruits.

The best strategy to pull this off is to be the biggest fish in your pond. I would love for WSU to be the biggest fish in the biggest pond, but that isn’t likely.

Hopefully Coach IB is the guy to make us the biggest fish in AAC, but that task gets harder if the league includes additional schools with fertile recruiting territories and a potential “blue blood.”

Has WSU seen a dropoff in bids/stature since they joined the American?

In 2018, they got a 4 seed. That wouldn't have happened in the Valley. In 2019, they struggled but so has a lot of powerhouses. It happens. In 2020, they were a bubble team that certainly could've made it. In 2021, they received an at-large bid as well.

The way the Valley stands, WSU would be getting bids every year, albeit at the 12-14 range, unless they went 28-2 every year. Now, a loss doesn't destroy their at-large hopes.

Not sure why this is so difficult to comprehend. Thankfully, you are on an island and don't make any decisions regarding WSU athletics.

                      ... No really, deuces.

                      • If you're the AAC, you pretty much take any and all willing members of the XII. Some are obviously more preferable than others.

OSU would have to be the most desirable for both major sports. WVU would be up there and throw a bone to the Eastern members. After that, you'd think ISU and KU would be big followed by the Texas schools. Personally, TCU and KSU are the least attractive. I could see them ending up in the MWC if the AAC caps things at 16, though their media partner is much less available.

At this point I'm really done with trying to predict who ends up where but all the current news makes it sound like we'll come out better when this ends.

                        • My guess is Baylor and TCU are 1 and 2. Maybe OSU #3? Tech to the PAC or WAC. KState to the Horizon, they seem to like playing Horizon in football anyway, might as well make a full time gig. KU will prob try to latch onto the Big East for bball. WVA to the AAC. ISU might be another Horizon team.

I really hope this is the case. I just fear a merger leaves the door open to schools being left out in the cold, like some of our conference mates after the Big East.
