It would take a lot of research but I think that if someone did it, they would find a "tough love" coach on the staff of every good program. I've seen it at Michigan State, and other great programs. For Pete Sakes, look at Kelvin Sampson. He is "Old School". He constantly screams at his players. Perhaps, GM lost his way to a degree, and it may not be the Head Coach, but for a program to succeed for a long time, accountability, and discipline have to be a part of every program.

There are probably some media people putting in open record requests for it already, so I imagine in the next week or two one will show up.

Mark Few was also a on the Gonzaga staff for all but 1 of the years Monson was at Gonzaga. One of the differences with Monson and Few is that as soon as Monson had notable success he decided to cash in. On the other hand not sure there is any way to entice Mark Few to voluntarily leave Gonzaga. As you say Few has pretty much built what is there now although not from nothing but it is amazing how he has sustatined the high level of success.

In any case, I realize it's just dreaming and certainly don't have my expectations set that high for HCIB. I just want him to be hiself, do his best and let's see what happens.

IB can add two scholarships even if our current seniors return. Special rule for this year only.”

isn’t this just kind of kicking the can down the road though? Because next year if you graduate two players, you have zero scholarships to give.

So happy for HCIB and the players. The announcement video speaks volumes to me - been quite a while since I’ve seen that kind of joy in the program.

Will the program be more successful over the next 10 years than the last 10? Hard to say that confidently - only time will tell of course. But I can say confidently that I look forward to rooting for HCIB in a way that hasn’t been there the last few years.

From the outside looking in, something felt ‘off’ with the program the last few years, in hindsight for obvious reasons. But even before the ugliness came to light, it was hard for me to not feel like the chip on the shoulder and extreme competitiveness that took 3G and the program to new heights had shifted toward arrogance and viewing himself as not answering to anyone. When I could sense Mike Kennedy increasingly dancing around anything approaching tough questions, I couldn’t help but feel the best of the 3G era was behind us.

Will the HCIB era include a F4 and multiple second-weekend NCAA runs? That’s a high bar. But I am eager to root for someone who seems to see himself as a servant leader and is hungry to prove himself.

For those who thought the cupboard was bare when Marshall came, between TE's quote in the eagle article and the Twitter video, I'm not sure there would even be cupboards if this wasn't the decision made.

or, we sign 2 players that we think can help the team and 2 guys transfer, maybe this year, maybe next. If you have 2 schollies, it’s probably best to use them to get the best product on the floor,

Yes, this is going to create problems especially for high school players. The transfer market will also cause problems. I believe that a number of 2 and 3 star players won’t have scholarships at D1. This may help the better D2 programs.
