If Todd Butler would have won a conference championship and gotten a good seed in a regional in his first year, I believe Shocker fans would have given him their wholehearted support, which is not the treatment IB is getting.

"We hired the wrong guy" - Yeah, he only got us a conference championship and an NCAA invite in his first year with only 5 guys who had ever played with each other before and only 6 who had played a minute of D1 basketball.

When a team has 7 players on scholarship who've never played a minute of D1 ball, that's generally considered a rebuild, not a reload.

I really believe it is a vast vast minority of folks who feel this way about HCIB. Most I’ve seen have been supportive of him. Critiquing a coach is not the same as saying he’s the wrong guy or not supporting him. Even HCGM got fair criticism.

Not really sure how WSU backed into a bid? Just had a resume that was good enough. Did UCLA back into a bid? What about Michigan State? Better yet, what about Duke or Kentucky?

Also they made 2 field goals in the final 5 minutes on Saturday. Execution was super shitty no doubt.

Just pointing out that the comment I’ve seen multiple times is incorrect.

If you’re one of the last two teams selected, it could’ve gone either way. This time we happened to be on the good side. We got extremely lucky that we got invited with how we ended things. Both games sucked. One ended with a W and one with an L. I’m not sure if the committee was watching our game Saturday cuz I’m not sure how we passed the eye test if they did. And our execution for most of the year has been shitty. That’s why we have to hold on to so many 1-5 point leads.

All that said, we’re in. I’m ecstatic. And I hope we learn a few things and make a little run. But if we play the same way we’ve been playing lately, then we’re gonna get embarrassed off the floor by a Valley team before the tournament even really begins.

I was/am (however you want to say it) in both of those camps, and I have and will continue to support HCIB and Shocker basketball the best that I can.

He IS my coach, I am both happy and proud for him and the entire program, including those that paved the way for this success.

I accept him as our coach. However, my support of him doesn’t dissolve questions of whether he will have long term success. Each success that he has will ease my and others concerns. It would be nice to win a couple of games in the tournament, but I don’t have those expectations on this team. Soon, recruiting will be front and center, and if IB can sign a top 4* recruit, and/or an additional big man recruit will Go a long way to show he can do this.

However, people just telling me that I need to Blindly believe that our program will remain a Top 40-50 Program will turn me and others off.
