If Todd Butler would have won a conference championship and gotten a good seed in a regional in his first year, I believe Shocker fans would have given him their wholehearted support, which is not the treatment IB is getting.

"We hired the wrong guy" - Yeah, he only got us a conference championship and an NCAA invite in his first year with only 5 guys who had ever played with each other before and only 6 who had played a minute of D1 basketball.

When a team has 7 players on scholarship who've never played a minute of D1 ball, that's generally considered a rebuild, not a reload.

Hard to believe that a team that’s picked 7th ends up winning the league, Beating Houston and making it to the big dance. SO happy for the players and HCIB. It wasn’t perfect, wasn’t always pretty but the players always played hard and that’s really all you can ask. Do we need to improve on defensive rebounding, sure. Better shot selection, you bet. IB took a team with 6 players with D1 experience. 2 of those had 1 year of D1 experience. 3 had 2 years of D1 experience. Only 1 D1 Sr (3 years in D1). By D1 standards and ESPECIALLY by Marshall's standards, that's an inexperienced team. IB won a conference championship with what everybody would consider a rebuild project. He got an NCAA invite with a team predicted to finish 7th in their league.

We have yet to see if IB can design some offensive sets that don't involve passing the ball around the perimeter for 20 seconds of a 30-second shot clock. That's been a criticism of the Shox ever since FVV graduated. We have yet to see if IB can develop an offensive attack against a zone, which was Marshall's kryptonite.

IB got the job so close to the start of the season that he had no choice but to use Marshall's sets. We've seen that those sets aren't working well with the current personnel. They're working better this year than they did last year.

We scored ZERO field goals in the last 5 minutes of BOTH games. Not a great recipe for success. All of these players were using Marshall's system up into mid November. IB essentially told them just to dawg out. I didn't say that, he did. So NO, we don't have a definitive answer on him. He could be good or he could not. So don't get so effing offended when someone disagrees with you. He's not definitely good or bad. It's TBD. If we lose to freaking South Florida on Friday, is a definitive statement made then?

Not really sure how WSU backed into a bid? Just had a resume that was good enough. Did UCLA back into a bid? What about Michigan State? Better yet, what about Duke or Kentucky?

Also they made 2 field goals in the final 5 minutes on Saturday. Execution was super shitty no doubt.
