Wichita State vs. Missouri Game Thread 12-6-20

No one likes a loss. Especially me.

But we played better today, we just got out manned. Mizzou played tough defense and it will give the coaching staff some material to work on. Effort was there. No quitting by anyone. Shot selection was not good but I think everyone was frustrated by MIzzou defense. OSU will be even tougher so we have our work cut out for us.

I think if we can figure out who can play the 5 for us we will be just fine. That is the biggest hole I see.

1. Gilbert a little too much hero ball, but not a lot of choices there either
2. Dex and Tyson must shoot better, period
3. Jobu needs to be decent. That's all
4. RC4 looks intriguing
5. Love Trey but he's maybe 6'5, and not a long 6'5" either, and he's a 4
6. Jackson works his azz off
7. home court advantage is real, but less so with an empty house
8. cannot get beat back down on defense, ever
9. calling time-outs to stop runs kinda works, huh?
10. Must sign taller, longer players. Period

2020-21 (Freshman):
Three-star recruit, per Rivals… Elite athlete who plays above the rim and with a tremendous motor.

Hopefully Jaden's motor runs at about the same RPM's as C-Jacks. While he might prove to be an upgrade from Mo and Po not sure he would have been the answer against Mizzou's montsters.

It's possible, although far from assured, that Jaden and Josaphat could move ahead of Mo and Po by mid-season. Time will tell.

Porter and Ricky are long and athletic guards... guess time will tell. It’s hard for me to judge until I see every player. I hope JB gets healthy quick, he might be the x-factor on the season.

My issue with our lack of quality big men is that if you’re gonna sign 6’8-6’9 post players, they better be really good/quick athletes with range on their shots. Good 7 footers don’t grow on trees, I get it, but we don’t really need 6’8 guys with no range offensively or defensively.
