For me I still need to know what 5 players are saying it. Could there be 5 players from those years that would have an axe to grind? Maybe, maybe not.
I will support whatever the investigation turns up
Not hard to believe there are players that dislike a coach strongly after leaving. There is a large gap between disliking, even hating someone, and trying to destroy his life by telling bold faced lies to multiple journalists. If that's the case, we recruited some of the shadiest dudes in the country during those years (also the dumbest because it would be argued against by others there). What other school has ever had players conspire against their coach to ruin his career/life? This seems unprecedented if true.
The fact that Marshall is now saying a member of the media is "out to get him" just proves he's guilty. Three different outlets and 4 reporters (so far) have all done independent investigations into this and proven the exact same thing.
Numerous former players and coaches have all gone on the record to say he did this. Plus, there is no way Jeff ******* is going to risk his job, career and getting the hell sued out of him for slander to get small time Gregg Marshall fired.
Anything Marshall says at this point is just trying to save face in the final hour of his career. Shaq has nothing to gain by lying about this either.
Guess I’m confused with the “small time” comment? Regardless of what he has or hasn’t done, isn’t Marshall considered one of the top 10-15 coaches in the country? Of course my meter could be broken or needs 8 hours to recuperate.
"You Just Want to Slap The #### Outta Some People"
Coach is getting gangbanged in this process and by many on this board. Shaq stayed two years after the alleged occurrence and then admitted the positive effect the Coach had on his career. Then years later after 6 weeks of prodding and probably a check, he comes forward. In that circumstance it must have been a “push” or contact that Shaq on balance did not feel was abuse. Go home with your torches and guns. I think he should remain even if it happened. He should be warned and informed that there now has to be zero tolerance. But there will be no effect on recruiting. Also, the buzzards from the north that are stalking this board because they want to take the focus off their coach who witnesses say has offered Significant cash to play for said buzzards.
Where is JR Simon in all of this? He was very close friends with Shaq I thought and many other players while playing... and after on the coaching staff. I have a feeling he will probably stay quiet.
I guess if I had a coach hit me, I would be leaving that school and looking for a new home. Idk, this whole situation is confusing.
That's where I'm at also. If the incident in question was that serious, why did the player not transfer immediately? Why did everybody stay hush-hush about something that serious? Were people that afraid to talk about it? Did other players rally around Shaq and talk him into staying? Was everybody gathered into a room and told to shut up about it or they were gonna get yanked. I dunno I just find it hard to believe guys like Ron and Fred would let that stuff go on if it was really that serious. Maybe they'd die for Coach, but I dunno... so many questions and zero answers.
And then you have douches like Erik Stevenson liking all of these tweets who was NEVER apart of the alleged incidents and is just butthurt beyond butthurt. He's gotta let stuff go or he's gonna end up in a mental institution.
Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

What ever happened to the coach Devon Smith. Could he be one of the coaches talking? He seemed like he just disappeared off the staff last year. Maybe I just missed the story of where he went.

Pure speculation:
I think Shaq's mother was a strong influence in his life. Whatever incident took place did not rise to her level of concern. His mother, unfortunately, has passed, and he may be receiving "advice" from others. Others may have a different view of the incident, and Shaq is now listening to them. While I enjoyed watching the young man play, I always thought he was so eager to please, he lacked his own true north compass.
I iterate, pure speculation.
PS Shaq was owning Bam Adebayo in that Kentucky game. Oh, what could have been.
PSS Is it weird he tried to have a basketball clinic, shortly before all this news broke?

And what about Cle saying something like what was reported wasn't what Shaq had said? There have been a few things like that said..... I think. Very very confused!
