The reason these next 7 games carry so much importance is that we face a BRUTAL 5 game in 14 day stretch in January that could cripple this team if they are not playing with HCGM's passion and execution and confidence.
If we end the year going 4-3 in the next 7 and 1-1 in the Valley there would be about a 50-50 chance we come home to face UNI on 1/23 and 8-10 and 1-6 in conference. That's not the expectation that any of us have.
If you think I am being tough on the team, you have missed my point. I am calling out the all-mighty WSU fan base. The empty seats, the GA tickets unsold, the lack of passion, the sit and wait until someone wows you and then you get off your keyster and clap for 5 seconds. Hey, I am calling myself out. I haven't done enough as a fan. We ask everything from the team and then expect so little (or nothing) from ourselves as fans. Here we have a chance to prove how tough a place the Chuck is to play and win.
What have you done? Do you go and make sure the snacks are all in order and make sure that you say "hi" to George and Renee or do you get your butt in your seat and prepare to stand the entire game if needed to make life a living hell for the other guys? Are you happy to see the other team score or does your heart speed up at the thought of one more defensive stop so you can scream a little louder?
Yes, we have people out there that are familiar with our level of "bonkers". It's time that we as fans show our new coach that we are as dedicated and prepared as his team is and frankly so far they have far outperformed us.
Let's change that starting Tuesday.

I SECOND THAT ~
IT IS HORRIBLE THE FAN TURN OUT THIS YEAR SO FAR!!!! I THINK THOSE PEOPLE WHO HAVE SEASON TICKETS AND DON'T SHOW UP OUGHT TO BE PUNISHED FOR NOT GIVING THIER TICKETS TO SOMEONE WHO WANTS THEM. ALSO - - STUDENTS, WHERE ARE YA? THE ONES THAT ARE THERE - - KEEP IT UP, BECAUSE YOU ARE THE HEART OF THE FANBASE! I JUST WISH THERE WAS A WAY WE COULD ADVERTISE - - OR SOMETHING. WE NEED TO FIND A WAY TO GET THE FANS OUT TO SUPPORT THE SHOX.

According to realtimerpi.com UMBC has an RPI of 25 and a Power Rating of 70 compared to an RPI of 176 and a Power Rating of 131 for the Shocks.
This will definitely be a challenng game for the Shockers and no one should confuse UMBC with Maryland-Eastern Shore (RPI - 310 & Power Rating - 330)
Here are the RPI/Power Ratings (out of 341 teams) for the Shocks (176/131) pre-conference opponents:
Games played to date:
Arkansas - Pine Bluff (306/307)
Baylor (19/42)
Monmouth (162/213)
Illinois-Chicago (186/190)
Wyoming (282/249)
Appalachian State (224/175)
Remaining Games:
UMBC (25/70)
Texas Arlington (24/73)
UMKC (265/281)
LSU (187/120)
UAB (126/116)
While it is still very early in the season and these ratings likely to change fairly significantly, who would of thought before the season started that UMBC and Texa Arlington may be just as tough and important home games as the Wyoming, LSU and UAB games.
As WuDrWu says, time to step of Shocker fans and do our part. Neither of this weeks games are gimme's.

Great posts by Aargh and WuDrWu
Shox are getting some extra practice time between early-season games.
Last year was a lot of early-season road games - then an exempt tourney in Vegas in December. Having the exempt tourney earlier in the year put a very raw team in the tourney, but there's more time to work on correcting the early-season problems.
Last year the problems were found in December and there wasn't practice time available to work on the problems. The early-season exempt tourney produced results we didn't want to see, but it's allowing additional practice time to correct problems.
The Shox have basically improved every game since Monmouth. I think the extra practice time at this stage of the season is going to continue that trend.
Ellis and Griskenas belong on D1 courts this year. As soon as they are comfortable with that, WSU could be a tough game on any court against any opponent.
