      Record?

Does anyone know what is the most times WSU hitters have struck out in a game? I guess it helps to go extra innings, but 21 times through the first 11, five by McKeever alone? That isn't easy to do.

kemp has done well but yet another 2 run hr and I may get to go home, just not happy

I can say with statistical certainty that this is the worst approach at the plate I've ever seen or has ever been.

and our pen continues to choke on 2 outs kemp is out and josh smith in

            Again

Ah, the dreaded two out and nobody on situation for the enemy strikes again. TCU and ORU may be much better than Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Central Michigan, but the TCU opener and this one may well be the two worst losses of the year, simply because they were so obviously and grossly given away.

Many more of these and Gene should go out and buy some generic yellow jerseys for midweek games, because a team that plays like this doesn't deserve to have "Wichita State" or "Shockers" on their chests. (And, yes, you bunt fans, you can even have Gene in generics, too.)

Let's hope the Shocks regain their historic identity against Bradley, which is a series they really, really need to sweep.

              21 is the record
              mckeever's 5 is also a record

so going to the bottom of the 12th and down 5 to 3

I just don't understand why Remington Johnson came out of the game.

21 is a new team record and 5 by McKeever is a new individual record.

You might be able to live with a lot of K's if the team had some power, but we really only have occassional power (usually wind dependent). That starter for ORU must have had some nasty stuff. Perhaps Rosewood can shed some light.

                    • I don't understand a lot of things that happened in this game.

                      • I have a hard time pinning tonight's loss (barring a miracle) on the pitching staff, Clint Maune or no.

Unfortunately, it will never happen...but it would be nice to replace JT after the season, he simply can not cut it.

                        • Just Curious, what is the wind like and is it blowing out to the outfield?

                          • Ballgame. Shocks go down meekly in the bottom of the inning. No more strike outs though. Something to build on.

                              • Well, look on the bright side. At 22 games in, I predicted we would be 10-12. We are 12-10 so I'm being proved wrong right now, just barely though. :D

We are on our way to mediocrity, hooooraaaayyy!
