Not bunting? Any chance it is a combination of Gene not confident that the young man could bunt successfully and thinking that 1 run would not be enough with the current state of the bullpen?

That is a good question on all points. It's pointless to make somebody bunt that can't.

Also sac bunt would increase the probability of scoring a run but decreases the probability of putting up a crooked number.

Hopefully, the Shox will get somebody (on the Shockers) to hit one out in the 9th so these questions don't really have to be answered.

Just sitting here listening to the game, a big "thank you" to Hubris, Chris Owen and the internet, and it sound like the Shox are flashing some leather. Get a run here, win the game, move on to Peoria and get the conference domination started :)

In the bottom of the 8th, tie game, runners on 1ast and 2nd the right decision is to bunt the runners over. Regardless of the outcome.

If 1st base is empty, I can see maybe not bunting because the double play is not in order.

Anyway its done, and I'm sure it will be repeated. Hopefully, it works out better the next time.

Hopefully, Justin can get through one more inning and the Shocks can find a way to squeeze a run home.
