I give this team props for even beating FSU once, but their bats are too strong, and we have no consistent pitching left. Capra needs to have a good start, but i just don't see it. Let's just face it, FSU is hot right now, our only hope is that their #3 starter is not as good as Capra.
I thought today was our best chance to win...I think Anthony will come out with intensity and focus. I guess I am an optimist ...some people are not..so be it. They are throwing a big right hander tomorrow Geoff Parker

    21 Geoff Parker..... 4.02 6-2 12 8 0

He is 6ft 3in and 245lbs Identical to Mckeever I believe
Was it announced it will be him? If so, it will be an interesting matchup. The kid is a freshman and started out the season as a reliever. He has transitioned into a starter now and has impressive wins against North Carolina and Clemson. In those games he gave up 1 and 2 runs respectively.

His recent loss was against that scratch your head Bucknell regional game. He gave up 4 runs to take the loss. I'm hoping we can at least duplicate and more what Bucknell did to this freshman.

Not that I'm as talented as Cincy and can foresee the future, but I feel good about Capra tomorrow.
He has a bulldog mentality and has flourished in the past when we needed a win on Sunday to take a series.
        It's just a gut feeling, not a prediction. 8)
Above all, make the right call.

Coach Martin announced it at the live post game press conference that was on cstv.
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

How many pitches did Shafer throw today? Is there anyway in a do or die situation late in the game that he could come in to pitch to one or two batters?

              3. Defense can't give up gifts.

All these things the Shox did not do today.
So what you are asking is for the Shox to play the perfect game tomorrow.
No, not really. It will come down to one thing - Capra. He is the key for the Shox to have a chance to win it. If he's on, I like WSU chances. If he comes out like Shafer - game over.

The encouraging thing is Shockers history is littered with great stories of Shocker teams who had a pitchers elevate his game at critical points when everybody thought they were dead.

The legacy of this team is yet to be written and will depend on how they come out tomorrow. This team will either be known as:

              1) One of the great Shocker teams that got WSU back from a 12 year hiatus to the CWS.

              2) Or the team that had a good year but just fell short, and memories of this team will slowly fade away as the years slowly slip by.

                # 1 I agree with. If we should lose and its # 2, speaking for myself there is no way my positive memories of this special team will fade away. Mckeever grand slam, anyone? One of my top Shocker highlights in any sport. Ever.

CWS or bust IMO .... it's been 12 years now

Tough game for you guys today. I have no doubt tomorrow will be much closer.

A preview of what you'll see from us tomorrow...As mentioned, we'll throw Freshman Geoff Parker tomorrow and have Ryan Strauss come in after. Both are hard throwing RHs, with Parker in the low 90's and Strauss touching 95.

Parker was the starter who got touched up in the first game against Bucknell so he is hittable. Other than that outing he has pitched very well for us. Started the season with a sore shoulder and slowly transitioned into what we felt he would be for us when we signed him. First freshman weekend starter we've had in quite some time. If he hands it over to Strauss with the lead, we like our chances as Strauss has been a shutdown type of guy for us.

Looking forward to tomorrow. Good luck to you all.

Parker is pitching tomorrow and he's been a little jekyl and hyde of late. When he's hitting his spots he can be dominant but in certain outings like Bucknell for example, he simply couldn't locate. Strauss is also available and while he has the experience, doesn't quite have the stuff that Parker does. He'll have a quick leash if he doesn't look good.

It looks like things got a little heated (no pun intended) out there today. I know there's alot of discussion on it from both fan bases. Personally, I see it as two teams that play hard, pure and simple, nothing intentional. It's hot and competitive, things are going to happen. That's sports gentlemen.

I have been very impressed with the grit of WSU; I was a little surprised to see Stephenson (sp) shut it down that early but can certainly understand it given the score and conditions out there today.

Good luck tomorrow, it should be another good one!

Hopefully, it will be a low scoring game. I don't like our chances if it gets into a hitting contest.

                              Wow.

cincyshocker comes out for the first time this year, in a superregional game, and starts his nonsensical bad-mouthing.

What an idiot. A hypocritical idiot.
