With Springpatch's small population of like 160K proper, I'm curious to know what people are doing in town during that time that might be beating out what there is to do in 400K proper Wichita. I'm no huge fan of Wichita the city, but it beats freaking Springfield by orders of magnitude.
If numbers equal quality then: MSU enrollment 24,489. WSU enrollment 15,003.

How many WSU fans are trolling the MSU boards?

          University of Phoenix Enrollment: 213,000
Williams College Enrollment (#1 school in the country according to Forbes): 2,000

          See how fun that is?

Let's play with some other WSU versus MSU metrics, shall we?

          Endowment:

          WSU - $260M
          MSU - $66M

Endowments are a pretty good indicator of the fiscal health and support a university gets amongst it's community and alumni base. MSU's endowment might be the worst in the MVC, but I'm not going to look it up tonight. UNI might still have you beat.

          Forbes Academic Ranking:

          WSU - 570th
          MSU - 575th

Big whoop of a difference, but WSU still beats MSU (a refrain I'm sure you've heard a few times in your day).

          Academic R&D Expenditures:

          WSU - $61.4M
          MSU - $3.8M

Had to use Ctrl+F to find MSU, they were so far down the list. I'd like to laugh, but you're not supposed to find humor in a handicap.

          Carnegie Classifications:

WSU -RU/H: Research Universities (high research activity)
MSU - Master's L: Master's Colleges and Universities (larger programs)

MSU plays in the academic equivalent of D2 (much like the effective level of your athletic department). WSU plays D1 with the big boys. MSU is two rungs below WSU in Carnegie Classification, for the uninitiated.

The Carnegie Classifications of Institutions of Higher Education® are the nation’s leading framework for categorizing diverse U.S. higher education institutions.

It's obvious that Metro Springfield University needs some remedial English courses.

It's too bad they don't break that down by investment. I'd be curious how much of that $66M is in livestock.

Uuugh. Looks like MSU's fertilizer laboratory runoff has been seeping into the dorm rooms again.

Do you know what the highlight of Paul Lusk's trips to Wichita are? The drive back when he hits the Missouri border because he knows he's about 5 minutes away from a porn / fire cracker shop. He can grab him a copy of Big Naturals, some snappers, snakes and sparklers. The only thing worse than losing to Wichita State 10 times out of 10 times is when he misses that first exit on the drive home. But he can't be too sad because he'll just have to wait another 10 minutes before he sees the next one on the highway.

But seriously, congrats on a hell of a baseball team this year. Quite the rotation, and the national seed is superb.

kai, you also forgot to congratulate them on their road trip to the super regionals as a national seed. That's gotta be a first.

I am pretty sure it has happened before in the Super Regional era. I think I can recall a time where Oklahoma State had to play on the road because the rodeo was in town and Stillwater didn't have enough hotel rooms. Regardless, it's a small price to pay for playing in one of the finest facilities around.

It's not a done deal that we will be on the road for sure. MSU could possibly host in Joplin at that refurbished park.

Wait am I getting this right? Msu got assigned a regional but they can't have it because of a scheduling conflict? That can't be right. What am I missing here?

They'll have the regional. It is the Super Regional in question, should the Bears advance. Being a national seed, they have the inside track to host that, but the Springfield Cardinals are at home next weekend, and the NCAA will not allow dual use. The facility has to be completely available to use.

LfG, I had wondered about somewhere like Joplin. It seems that North Carolina once hosted a regional somewhere other than Chapel Hill (Cary maybe?) when there was a scheduling conflict.
