The "no Big East model" tweet was pretty obviousm but the other one has an interesting disclaimer:
We have no interest in expanding at this time.
If you want to keep the glass half full, there's a year available to negotiate with schools who might be opposed to expansion. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

The original report from the coaches meeting said the addition of WSU couldn't happen for 2017-18. We already knew there was no interest in expansion (probably mutual) "at this time". He didn't say "we have no interest in expansion", which he easily could have said without the disclaimer.

I would love to see us in the AAC. I would get to watch the Shox at least once a year. Probably will need to stay away from my daughter when we are playing. She is a U of H alum.
We may get one more year to boat race the MVC.

My mind may be a little fuzzy, but I can remember someone (either West Virginia or Creighton) got invited shortly after the tourney but could not leave until the upcoming season was complete. That's what I think will happen here. Too many rumors from too many different sources to not think this thing has legs.

Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

As I recall (and I think this agrees with the MVC Constitution), CU gave up all their NCAA shares. WSU is going to have to be prepared to give up all MVC NCAA tourney shares, and not participate in any AAC tourney shares prior to joining the conference (if the iinvitation happens). that will likely cost a couple hundred grand. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

The current schools are certainly not going to take a cut to bring WSU into the league. The current contract expires in 2019. I'm certain all current members of the AAC are expecting more $$ from the next contract. The value of WSU in the AAC would have to increase the next contract by enough that the existing schools could get their expected increase AND to give WSU a share. That's the absolute minimum. A more reasonable outlook would be that the existing schools get a bump BEYOND what they expect from the new contract.
The addition of WSU to the AAC pretty much has to be approved by ESPN in the form of a significantly higher contract for basketball rights after 2019. It is entirely possible that the AAC has already been in contact with ESPN, and that ESPN is playing hardball, which led to Aresco's "not at this time" comment. Some posters on the AAC board have considered this a likely scenario.
The sell for Boatright and Bardo might be ESPN rather than the AAC, although there are definite obstacels there as well. The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
