  • Tubby Smith may be better off without them, from an attitude standpoint. And, sounds like they will fit right in with KU.

Interesting article, but why is this posted in the American Athletic Conference thread?

              • I just thought of something. For the players that make All-Conference in our new league, will they be called All-AAC or All-American. Because... the latter could get very confusing.

Ohio State style, they'd be All-The-American

                  • How do they award the all-sports trophy in the MVC? Is there a reception/banquet type of thing or do they just mail us a trophy? I ask because assuming we win it AGAIN this year, that could potentially be the most awkward reception/banquet ever.

You mean it wasn't awkward when the Cretin escaped? Wait, they didn't win anything.
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Not sure. I am not aware of any reception or banquet where they award that trophy. I think they probably just mail it. And if that isn't what they have done in the past it is probably what they will do this year.

the defense is going to be out of this world next year.

                            • Some interesting things in this column by Bob Lutz.

Interesting point about Linwood Sexton coming in with the Valley and going out with the Valley. May not be anyone who saw more Wichita State/Missouri Valley contest than Linwood Sexton.

Donor's, boosters and general Shocker fans showed little interest in bringing back football. Lutz quoted ADDB as saying "It's pretty obvious that now, at least, there is not much support for football".

Men's basketball is the engine that drives Wichita State and neither Boatright or Bardo lost sight of that fact.

ADDB expects more conference shifting in the future but doesn't seem too worried about it. He seems to have confidence that the AAC will be able to deal effectively with this as it comes.

It's fantastic that we got to a higher level without football. Now, the discussion can take a back seat again until later. Perhaps a time will come when it is more feasible as the University grows over the years, but for now it is no longer necessary to get us to a higher level. It used to be a pretty big concern that we could never move this far up without it, so we were hoping for the A10 or Big East. We struck gold and got lucky.

But remember the definition of "luck" though... Luck is when preparation meets opportunity as they say. We were prepared at a level that only a very small handful of other schools in our position were. The opportunity came at a very specific time and when that time came, we were prepared because of the crash course improvements Bardo has made in no time flat, and also because of the overall success of the entire athletic department headlined by Marshall.

As it pertains to conference realignment, I do believe it will happen in the next fews years and the American will change its membership. One of the many big differences between the American and the MVC is that when realignment happens, the American will still be the conference everyone wants to get into from below. It will again be able to choose the strongest, most prepared schools to fill voids. Contrast that with the MVC, who can't seem to get any takers because it is already too late.
