I think that would be a fun addition to WSU. Soccer is growing in the US and there is lots of great youth programs/clubs in the region.
Yes, that was very briefly touched on in the two threads discussing the impact of a move to the AAC on Wichita State's other porgrams.

You can find links to those threads here.

Seriously. Invite them to play a game at Cessna Stadium every year. Refurb the stadium, let Navy use it anytime they want, and get ready for playing FCS in the MVFC for a couple years. 5 years from now, join the AAC in football.

If we join the AAC I doubt very seriously if the MVFC will have any interest in letting us use them as a stepping stone. In fact, I think the MVFC has basically said as much.

One of the reasons the AAC is so attractive to WSU is that we don't have to add football to gain entry.

Yeah. But I would enjoy it. I'm sure they will be lame about it if it ever came up, but it would certainly be the best place to launch a program. Top notch FCS. Get owned for a couple years by all the MVFC teams that would love to stick it to us, and then be as ready as possible when you go FBS. My whole post was basically a joke anyway, because I don't see any logistical way for Navy to actually play a game at Cessna Stadium unless it was some kind of special, neutral site event with Air Force or something, but its definitely a fun thought.

          • Eff it, go straight to FBS! What another great middle-finger that would be from WSU to everyone else!

The AAC hasn't previously had two divisions, but if they did, it would likely be East and West:

              West
              WSU
              SMU
              Tulsa
              Houston
              Tulane
              Memphis

              East
              UConn
              Cinci
              Temple
              ECU
              CFU
              SFU

That's probably just @ShockerFever: getting set up for the long haul.

                I kid because I care.

                • Does this up our odds of landing a 7'1" graduate transfer? How nice would that be...

                    • Look at Pete Thamel's twitter page. He revised his pinned tweet about WSU an hour ago. Sounds even more solid.

How about Navy vs. Tulsa at Cessna stadium? It would be a short trip for Tulsa and Shocker fans love beating Tulsa. I think we could make Navy seem very welcome.

Never been good at it and have never seemed to care. I need good basketball to follow and I hate the ACC teams in my backyard. Good luck guys, hopefully this happens for next season. You'll see me around here during basketball.
I was stationed at Ft. Bragg from 2002 to 2006 and some of favorite times was there was going down to Pirates Cove Apartments in Greenville to see my girlfriend on the weekends. I went to a few football games back when y'all were Conference USA and had a good time. Greenville was always a nice escape from "Fayettenam". I was enrolled in ECU but ultimately decided to come back home to WSU. Still have a bit of a soft spot for the Pirates. Never in million would have thought we'd be in the same conference, but here we are! Hopefully the right administration will come in eventually get hoops turned around there.
