You're a better man than I am. I'll feel bad for Bradley, UNI, and even ISUr. Everyone else can, for lack of a better phrase, suck it.

    • A lot of history in this league. Good times and bad times. I would be lying if I said I won't miss some of it. Excited for the future though.

Absolutely. This is where I think Creighton went wrong. They turned their nose up in typical fighting-sweater-vest fashion to what they left behind, despite the fact that if it hadn't been for some uncanny luck in St. Louis they wouldn't have had nearly as many opportunities to choke in the NCAA tournament.

While I'm giddy as a sixth grade girl for our future, I will genuinely miss the "MVC" chants during the 2006 NCAA, the unsightly defensive slugfests with SIU, the mutual admiration with HCGL's ISUb program, the ESPN GameDay worthy showdown with UNI, and the real honest to God hatred with ISUr's fanbase.

I'm ready for a Best/Worst MVC Memories topic but I don't want to jinx our move.

I can not agree more. For a long big time I loved the Valley and used to tell people it was one of the most psychical leagues. If I had my way I would have the AAC and the MVC swap WSU, Bradley, SIU and UNI for Tulane, ECU, Central and South Florida. That certainly wouldn't help the AAC as it take away most of the eastern foot print but this is a message board and I get to dream what I want!
I just want to stand on land...

            @rjl:
If I had a gun with two bullets and was in a room with Hitler, Bin Laden, and a Creighton fan, I think I'd shoot the Creighton fan twice.

The MVC could be salvaged, but it would take creativity and entrepreneurship.

Relegation league. Top half plays each other twice (plus the top team of the bottom half), top half only plays the bottom half once (and it's a home game for the top halfers). One team is promoted, one relegated each season.

I think that might save the sinking ship. Hmmm, I better look at the RPI of the bottom of the top half before I make that claim.

              • I think of Gregg as a guy who doesn't forget where he comes from. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he tosses a H/H for the random two years ISUr or UNI peak to give em a chance for a good resume win. I don't expect MVC buy games just because. But I don't wanna get too far ahead, I'll be patient for a press conference announcement soon.

WSU could play 4 or more games in the tourney next year if they have a strong enough schedule to get a decent seed. That's something like a $6.4 mill payday for the league. That works out to $500,000 payout per school in the AAC. I'd also think the AAC would want WSU next year for bargaining leverage for their TV rights that expire in 2019.
Last year's AAC Spring Meetings were held on "Tuesday, May 31 thru Friday, June 3." This could go on for a couple of more+ months.

i find my historically fond memories are around schools that have left already: Tulsa, NM State, Cincinnati, etc. we're no longer the "Valley of Death".

I agree. Not too long ago I was saying I hoped we would stay in the MVC and see it get better. I'm pretty nostalgic about the league. I could have said it better but what I was getting at was that we WOULD be scheduling MVC schools regularly and keeping the games going but that many of the teams we've been facing lately are the kind of teams you would have a buy game with if anything at all... I don't wish anything negative on the MVC. There's just something so odd about being in a conference with some teams you wouldn't even want to schedule a buy game with if they weren't in your conference. Maybe it's just me.

Your right HCGM doesn't forget. He's not going to forget all the crappy stuff ISUR has pulled while he's been in the MVC. He's not going to forget what UNI did with shoot around this year. I don't see him tossing Muller any bones.

                            ... No really, deuces.

Might be right about ISUr, what'd UNI do during shoot around again? Can't recall.

They gave us a shootaround time slot somewhere north of midnight.
