You mean like Missouri State rolled over Chadron State last year 21-13. Chadron finished the season 5-6.

Surely you can't be happy with your team scheduling a game against a 3-7 NAIA team can you? Just having that game on the schedule should be demeaning and embarrassing to MSU fans.

I guess if you have no other alternative but hard to believe that is the case.

There is a big jump from JUCO/NCAA III/NAIA to NCAA II and I would say a smaller jump to Division I. I keep pretty informed with the local/city league distance runners and even the best around usually go DII. I have only heard of one distance runner in the last three years to go DI in this area. 2014 and 2015 the best city league distance runners went to Pitt St and Newman.
Kansas JUCOs are seriously competitive with the top going to D-I, then D-II and NAIA. D-II offers full scholarships. NAIA offers partial scholarships, and NCAA III doesn't offer scholarships. I played tennis at Southwestern College, and while we usually lost close matches to Emporia State, Bethany (NAIA) routinely beat them. Southwestern College track beat OU track at a meet one year I was there and always crushed Pitt St and ESU. In FB and basketball we would have been crushed by a D-II despite winning conference championships.

I also played a year at Butler County. My first match as the #6 player on my team, I matched up with the two time 4A state champ. The #1s in the Jayhawk conference top ranked amateurs from Argentina, England, New Zealand, and several other top 5 players in their entire country. JUCO was on a whole other level competitively in the late 90s.

I don't have a problem with it. There's actually a lot of good humor in it. You can always put someone on your ignore list if it bothers you that much.

Leaves plenty of room for additional seating on both ends and a second level on the east side incase it actually takes off. If not then the seating is just right and won't look empty all the time. Maybe something like this;

Ugh using Cessna stadium is crazy.
I'm certainly interested to see what $20m will do to Cessna Stadium, but I believe if WSU brings back football, it should also include a new stadium. Cessna is embarrassingly ugly and has to be the worst 30,000 seat stadium in the country.

I think a terrible D1 FCS program could easily get rolled by a top D2 program, and since that's exactly what you're talking about with MSU versus Pitt St and NW MO St...

I agree, I was just try to spitball with Bardo saying Cessna would be used.

Screw spending 20 mil on that pile, heck Salukis 15K football stadium cost 27.5 mil 2016 dollars and that was built in illinois. I imagine you could build a comparable 18K seat stadium for around the same cost in Kansas. Would be brand new, be football only, and you could easily expand with that setup.

              • About Cessna Stadium. Has anyone considered that a chunk of that $20 mill might be coming from Textron?

Those saying that football can't be brought back in Cessna - and I'm not criticizing that position at all. The problem is coming up with the money to start from scratch with something new. $20 mill is sorta like putting lipstick on a pig - it's not really going to do much. It's a lot less than starting from scratch.

Charles Koch is saving $900 mill by not getting involved in the Presidential race this year. Maybe saying football will stay in Cessna is a bargaining maneuver.

uh not really I just pointed out that SIU's saluki stadium cost 27.5 mil in 2016 dollars and that was from scratch in Illinois. So it would save a little over starting from scratch but not much. I don't think respectable FCS schools have the track/football stadium setups anymore. In the Valley;MSU, ISUr, ISUb, SIU, NDSU, SDSU, YSU do not.

Jayhawk schools got busted BIG in the early/mid 2000s for paying athletes and improper benefits.

Here's a quote from SIU's athletic department web site (http://www.siusalukis.com/facilities/facilities-stadium.html)

The Southern Illinois football team moved into the brand-new $29.9 million Saluki Stadium for the 2010 season, after playing the previous 73 seasons at historic McAndrew Stadium. SIU, which was ranked No. 5 in the nation at the time, opened Saluki Stadium on Sept. 2, 2010 with a 70-7 win over Quincy in front of a sellout crowd of 15,276.
You don't attempt FBS football with a stadium that size. Cessna probably only holds 25K in 2016 butts, but that's still 10K more tickets that can be sold than what SIU has. I don't think a 15K stadium would be likely to ever qualify for FBS status.

Well I'm talking FCS to start, I'm talking 18-20k instead of 15k. Then when ready to move up to FBS add a second level to opposite side of press/club box, and finishing other end zone. So let's say 35 mil to build from scratch. Isn't it better than spending 20 mil to polish a turd and then it possibly having it only 2/3 full? I could be wrong maybe 20 mil could make Cessna look a lot better. I know one thing, having a track and being FBS just isnt a good look now days.

                        • Sounds like we are following the example of ODU, who dropped some cash into their old on campus stadium to help get the program restarted. They started up in 2009, Have sold out every game, and are now putting together plans for a new on campus stadium.

Any before/after pics of ODU's football stadium? Track? Nothing could possibly be worse than Cessna.
Football at WSU needs to generate excitement if it's to return. Cessna Stadium negates excitement.
Want to see images of the $20m refurb.
It's like L-D stadium. No matter how much money they put into painting the pig, adding ADA compliance, expanding concessions, and putting in new restrooms, it is still a dump and needs replacing.
